The Highlights:
The Vice President (VP) of Mission and Ministry is a senior leadership role responsible for advancing the organization's mission and ministry efforts through strategic leadership and oversight of related programs, services, and outreach. The VP will provide visionary leadership to ensure that all ministry efforts align with the core values, mission, and long-term goals of the organization. This role will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees, to enhance impact, drive innovation in programs, and foster relationships that support sustainable growth and outreach. It will also manage the relationship with the province and the Roman Catholic Church and serve as a key resource for the President regarding fundraising for the university.

What You'll Do:



  • Strategy. Develops and executes the strategic vision for mission and ministry programming in alignment with the DePaul's mission, vision, and values. Ensures that the university's mission is integrated throughout the university, including with strategic planning, policy-making, curricular and co-curricular activities, leadership development and employee orientation. Collaborates with the senior leadership team and the Board of Trustees to establish long-term goals, objectives, and strategies that drive impact for the division. Lead and empower staff to deliver exceptional services and programs.
  • Program Development and Oversight. Oversees the design, development, and execution of mission and ministry programs, ensuring they are innovative, effective, and culturally relevant. Regularly assesses program outcomes and make recommendations for improvements based on data, feedback, and organizational needs. Through programs, ensures the spiritual needs of all students, faculty, staff, administration and alumni are being met. Conducts relevant training and education. Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and best practices for ministry-related services.
  • Stakeholder and Community Engagement. Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, churches, donors, and external partners. Represents the organization's mission and ministry efforts to local communities, donors, and relevant networks. Serves as a key ambassador for the organization in the community. Plays an active an key role in assisting the President with fundraising.
  • Collaboration and Cross-Departmental Partnerships. Collaborates with other departments within the organization to ensure alignment of mission and ministry efforts across all organizational initiatives. Leads cross-departmental projects and initiatives, ensuring coordination of efforts and alignment with broader organizational goals. Actively engages with marketing, communications, and development teams to increase visibility and outreach for mission-driven initiatives.
  • Supports the President as needed, to further the close working relationships with the western province of the congregation of the mission. Manages the relationship with the province and the Roman Catholic church.
  • Financial Management and Resource Allocation. Develops and manages the department's budget, ensuring effective use of resources and fiscal responsibility. Identifies and and pursue funding opportunities and other resources to support mission and ministry programs. Oversees financial reporting for related activities, ensuring proper stewardship of funds.
  • Directly manages 4-6 Directors and oversees the division, consisting of 20-25 full-time employees.
  • Manages and oversees division's budget.


What You'll Need:


  • Master's of Divinity, Theology, or Religious Studies required. Ph.D. or Doctor of Ministry preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of leadership experience in mission and ministry leadership, with experience in Catholic higher education preferred.
  • Well-developed experience in fundraising, community outreach, and partnership development.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, program development, and staff management.
  • Must be a Roman Catholic.
  • A deep and personal commitment to the organization's mission and values.
  • Excellent leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and securing resources for programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.


The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $205,000.00 to $225,000.00 per year.
The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
