TITLE Graduate Admissions Counselor
Represents Texas Woman's University accurately, personably, and effectively to all of its various constituents. Works to facilitate the implementation of policies, practices, and programs, which will enable the university to achieve enrollment projections. Work is performed under general supervision, and performance is based upon the completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system, in accordance with the University's Policies and Procedures. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Reports to: Director of Graduate Admissions & Recruitment Supervises: This position may supervise student and/or graduate assistants ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following: * Visits and counsels' prospective students in person, via phone, email, and text. * Responds to situations that require guidance and/or counseling for graduate admissions. * Coordinates, hosts, and represents Graduate Admissions at on or off-campus recruitment events, which may include some evenings and Saturdays * Builds and maintains relationships with internal stakeholders, including the Graduate School and representatives of graduate academic programs. * Develop and maintain relationships with representatives of community colleges, universities, organizations, business entities, and other community programs. * Prepares regular reports on recruitment activities. * Reconciles business travel statements and billings. * Sends monthly reports to graduate academic programs to ensure parties are aware of their program application statuses. * Represent the university with graduate admissions organizations such as NaGAP, TxGAP. * te Admission Recruitment department on projects and supports other team members in meeting goals and expectations. ADDITIONAL DUTIES * May be requested to attend program informational sessions and events outside of the Graduate Admissions Recruitment department to promote TWU Graduate Programs or information. EDUCATION Bachelor's degree required. EXPERIENCE A minimum of One (1) year of experience in admissions, student recruiting, and/or student affairs for college relations, particularly with the graduate student population. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - The following are essential: * Knowledge of University policies concerning student admission. * Skill using student information systems for statistical analysis and other computer technology applicable to the functions of the position. * Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgement based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. * Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public. * Ability to orally present in person to groups and communicate effectively in writing. * Ability to represent the department and University in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner using customer service skills. * Ability to travel and work irregular hours including evenings or weekends during heavy recruitment seasons. * General knowledge of or ability to learn TWU graduate admissions, academic offerings, services, and student opportunities. * Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, and TargetX. * Ability to operate a motorized vehicle for recruitment travel. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described in the Essential Duties and below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. May lift up to 30 lbs. of recruitment materials and setup displays. The employee will be required to travel 50-60% of the time. The employee may be required to work evenings and weekends. REQUIREMENT Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position. All employees share the responsibility of maintaining information security and privacy requirements within the university by adhering to Federal and State regulations, and TWU Policies & Procedures. A valid Texas driver's license and a safe driving record is required by the university for a Driver's Authorization. This role travels to and recruits' students in Texas, community colleges, and bordering areas. WORK ENVIRONMENT All employees are responsible for maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, harassment, including sexual harassment. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment. SAFETY TWU promotes a safe working environment. Employees are responsible for completing assigned tasks safely and efficiently, and supervisors are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment. Employees must report any unsafe work conditions or practices, as well as any near-miss incidents, to their supervisor and Risk Management. Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources and Risk Management within 24 hours of the incident.
