Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Home Office, this role will drive improvements in our policy administration system (Guidewire) and facilitate the implementation of innovative technologies to enhance the underwriting process. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between technical capabilities and underwriting needs, ensuring a seamless integration of technology into underwriting workflows. By serving as the liaison between underwriting and the IT departments, this role will manage and communicate business feedback and changes to the IT department, ensuring these items are addressed and seen through to completion. This role will also need to uncover and pursue insurance technology solutions that would meaningfully help throughout the underwriting life cycle. With the overarching underwriting technology vision in mind, this will include travel to Insuretech conferences and taking introductory meetings to understand different vendors capabilities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with underwriting and IT teams to identify technology needs and consistently work to optimize the policy admin system
  • Act as a project manager for underwriting technology initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with objectives
  • Analyze current underwriting processes and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Gather and document requirements from underwriting teams for new technology implementations.
  • Conduct training sessions and create user documentation to support the adoption of new tools and systems
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to propose innovative solutions for underwriting challenges
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and work with IT to resolve problems related to underwriting systems.
  • Facilitate communication between underwriting staff and technical teams, translating underwriting needs into technical specifications.
  • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma required, Bachelor preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in P&C insurance technology required.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of policy administration systems and underwriting software; Guidewire strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of P&C underwriting principles and practices.
  • Prior experience in project management and technology implementation within the insurance industry requirement.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with diverse teams.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and processes.


The salary range for this role is $93,700-$175,600. The listed annual salary range posted for this position is subject to change and may vary depending on performance, education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, demonstrated proficiency in the competencies required for the role and business needs. Base pay is just one component of GNY's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
