Job Description Summary

As an Industrial Engineer at American Axle & Manufacturing, Inc. ("AAM") Fraser, you will assist with analyzing operating environment; identify process inefficiencies including wastes of labor, time, money, materials, and energy. Conducts time and motion studies. Conceptualizes improvements and assists in developing business cases. Develops and evaluates pilot programs, simulations, and prototypes. Implements new and enhanced processes and tools. Designs the layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.

Job Description

  • Support Engineering department with various assigned duties.

  • Timely communication of project status and relevant issues.

  • Implements and optimizes manufacturing techniques, processes, and tooling to maximize efficiency and reduce cost.

  • Work with Engineering team to design, develop, test, or manufacture industrial machinery, consumer products, or other equipment.

  • Conduct failure analyses, document results, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Assist in developing manufacturing equipment purchase proposals by studying manufacturing plans and commitments; evaluating manufacturing processes and requirements

  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with process control plans, quality assurance plans, and procedures

  • Test machines, components, materials, or products to determine characteristics such as performance, strength, or response to stress.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • Must be enrolled at an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in an Engineering program.

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA.

  • Available to work 35-40 hours/week.
