The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Grade: Professional 305 Pay Range: $54,800.00 - $82,200.00

Job Description

What You'll Do:

The Video Editor is responsible for logging raw video recordings and assembling them into a finished product that's suitable for broadcast on TV, on the university's website, native advertising sites, as well as social media channels.

Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Edit camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, music, and/or motion graphics into a coherent, compelling storyline or visual narrative.

  • Improve picture quality and color correct video using digital tools.

  • Create rough cuts, graphics and other video elements for review by Video Producer and other internal clients

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Mixture of practical and creatives skills in the video medium.

  • Adaptable to emerging technologies, including AI-driven editing tools, to improve efficiency and to support innovative video production.

  • Basic knowledge of video cameras, lights, audio, etc.

  • Great attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Good sense of timing and visual awareness

  • Ability to collaborate and work with others

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in film studies or multimedia

Experience:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in video editing and/or film production

  • Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite

  • A reel or online portfolio of video productions you have worked on.

Experience in lieu of education:

  • Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Position & Application Details
