About our group:

We are part of the Advanced Reliability group within the Product Assurance Engineering organization. The Advanced Reliability group plays a key role in protecting our customers and company by pursuing test and field software solutions, field analytics, and technology staging. Under this umbrella, the Analytics team makes key contributions by accelerating learning cycles during the product launch phase, closing the feedback loop using field telemetry data, and supporting key customers with log-based fleet health management innovations.

About the role - you will:

  • Investigate HDD behavior trends and observations through proactive monitoring of the US Cloud customer fleet.
  • Design log-based failure classifications for HDDs and incorporate them into the US Cloud customer fleet management algorithm for remediation and disposition actions.
  • Interpret customer questions into problem statements that are addressable with available data.
  • Extract insights from customer field data to inform design decisions, understand failure behaviors, and improve quality system methodology.
  • Adopt failure classification algorithms from various use cases (field, AutoFA, customer tools, etc.) for internal quality system applications.
  • Create repeatable analytic processes to assess HDD product anomalies and field risk.
  • Support the timely resolution of field quality escalations.
  • Contribute to maintaining the integrity of log contents and data infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering, Failure Analysis, Customer Success, IT, Factory Quality, and other Product Assurance functions to accomplish these objectives.

About you:

  • You want to work with cloud storage providers, directly or indirectly, to understand their needs and help Seagate improve the customer experience.
  • You communicate technical issues effectively, both in written and verbal forms, with colleagues across global locations.
  • You are an expert at locating, organizing, and analyzing data from multiple sources.
  • You seek to understand the cause and physics behind data observations.
  • You regularly apply statistical techniques in your work.
  • You have some understanding of reliability modeling methods, such as Weibull.
  • You create actionable conclusions from data signals.

Your experience includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field,and 5+ years of experience, or Master's degree in Computer Science or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related fieldand 3+ years of experience, or PHD and 0+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Understanding of HDD subsystems and how they interact, with failure analysis experience considered a plus.
  • Strong background in data analysis, particularly with large datasets.
  • Ability to assemble, process, and visualize data using Python, SAS JMP, SQL, or JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with Seagate's internal data storage tools, locations, and infrastructure.



You might also have:



  • Experience guiding cross-functional technical experts to collaborate and reach consensus.
  • Experience in customer technical communication and issue resolution.



The estimated base salary range for this position is $100,380.80 - $143,549.12. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Location:

This position is an onsite role and can be based out of our Shakopee, MN or Longmont, CO campus.
