Quality Engineer II

Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer will support quality engineering tasks throughout the life cycle of programs, including; contract review, product design reviews, develop inspection and test plans, manufacturing process approval, determine customer approval needs, vendor/supplier evaluation, create and utilize supplier rating feedback, support scrap and rework reduction efforts and customer corrective action requests.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and interpret customer specifications to define quality requirements and cost.
  • Design and develop a program quality plan to meet defined quality requirements.
  • Develop and deploy statistical quality control methods, both from a design and manufacturing perspective.
  • Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action for defects identified by customers.
  • Under guidance from quality management, create Process Control Plans and PFMEA for existing and new product.
  • Design an inspection plan and develop equipment, facilities and training required to meet defined quality requirements for receiving, in process and final inspection.
  • In conjunction with Engineering design and develop a test plan, procedures, equipment and facilities and training required to meet defined quality requirements for receiving, in process and final acceptance testing.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes. This includes process capability studies and statistical control processes, review and approval of manufacturing documentation and training requirements. Evaluations would also include auditing of OECO's Quality and Manufacturing systems.
  • Review and approval, in conjunction with Engineering and Purchasing, of vendor selection for procurement. This may include on site audit/ surveys to evaluate vendor capability to meet defined quality objectives.
  • Monitor and approve from a quality standpoint all First Article Inspections and Test and Qualification Test and Reports.
  • Interface with customer quality personnel as an OECO Senior Quality Engineer.
  • Audit the program quality plan during the production phases to assure defined quality objectives are met. Such as: Failure trend analysis Cost of quality - rework, scrap, performance to test and inspection standards and vendor performance.
  • Initiate, coordinate, document and follow up on corrective action required to meet defined quality objectives. This includes corrective action by OECO vendors, in house and corrective action required by customer returned product.
  • Responsible for review of customer specification changes and in house EO's for impact from a quality standpoint.
  • Lead and support MRB activities

Qualifications:
* Bachelor Degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school required.
* Four (4) years applicable work experience. Prefer experience with an aerospace electronics manufacturer.
* Must be able to professionally interact with all levels of management including executive level
* Must be able to regularly, and without notice, successfully respond to situations of pressure.
* Shall display a positive attitude and be supportive of all management policies in communications with others.
* Shall display a positive attitude toward safety.
* Must be analytical, organized, self-directing, possessing sound judgment and decision-making experience.
* Must be able to effectively communicate verbally in person and on the telephone as well as in writing to individuals and to groups.
* Must be able to read and analyze data in hard copy and on a computer screen.
* Must have range of motion sufficient to lift up to 25 pounds.
* Must be able to interact with a global array of Customers and Suppliers
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Thorough understanding of manufacturing and technical processes
* Experience with statistical concepts and process monitoring with the ability to use MiniTab and apply Weibull
* Ability to obtain internal auditing certifications
* Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Lean manufacturing techniques experience.
* Organizational, presentation, project management, and computer skills required
* Thorough understanding of Product design (APQP) and manufacture (DFM)
