Your role and responsibilities

In this role, B&R is seeking a highly-motivated Lead Sales Engineer for our Central Region Team, to be based in the Chicago area. This technical professional sells automation products and services, assists customers in resolving issues, grows relationships and accounts, and suggests technological improvements. The role often collaborates with engineers and sales support to understand requirements, propose solutions, and ensure successful sales outcomes.

This role is contributing to the Robotics/B&R Machine Automation Division in Chicago, IL area.

You will be mainly accountable to:

  • Grow sales of B&R's complete product range by working on new and existing sales opportunities.
  • Lead account and opportunity acquisition strategy; uncover and manage deep understanding of customer teams and decision processes.
  • Lead highly technical value-proposition generation by understanding the unique needs of customer teams and aligning them with B&R's offerings.
  • Cultivate important customer relationships through active engagement both in formal and informal interactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver presentations and demonstrations regarding products and services.
  • Identify, define, and develop the best technical solution and strategy for customer applications.
  • Secure orders and ensure timely delivery.
  • Grow the customer share through the development and execution of an account plan that includes exceptional sales support as well as the introduction of new products and services.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 4 years of directly-related experience.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical products and solutions.
  • Experience with Machine and Motion Control desirable.
  • Up to 50% travel, mostly in the region with occasional other domestic and international travel; valid driver's license and passport required with no barriers to travel.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
