Your Opportunity

The Supply Chain team is looking for motivated professionals to facilitate the distribution of our great products to customers and consumers. These personnel can analyze production metrics against market needs in Supply & Demand Planning, focus on product transportation through Logistics, or ensure the shelves of your local grocery store are stocked by Direct Store Delivery.

The Senior Manager, Warehouse Operations is accountable for all aspects of managing the storage and distribution of inventories across Smithfield Foods supply chain network. This role ensures the right products are stored and delivered to the right location on time and within budget. Cross-functional supply chain interaction will be critical to ensure all aspects of distribution requirements are met. Key areas of interaction will be Quality, Manufacturing, Planning, and Transportation. Leadership engagement will be routine, and strategic thinking on future-state operations are necessities to optimize current operational landscapes. This role will also include strategic project work such as start-up DC operations, system enhancement implementations, etc.

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborate/coordinate with Manufacturing, Planning and Transportation teams to review forecasts and proactively determine storage requirements.

  • Manage the Smithfield facilities and 3PL partnerships to include all operational activity, cost performance, and service metrics.

  • Implement/manage current company safety, quality, and sanitation standards for Distribution policies/procedures.

  • Maintain the accuracy of Distribution inventories, validation of cycle count performance, and monitor the overall financial position of each location's inventory.

  • Ensures facilities are in compliance with Regulatory, Smithfield, and Customer required policies and procedures, and physically audit facilities on an annual basis.

  • Maximize the operational efficiencies for Smithfield and 3PL facilities utilizing data-driven decisions to overcome operational challenges.

  • Develop facility management through Organizational initiatives as well as training on policy & procedures.

  • Develop/maintain KPI reporting to align with Leadership and Organizational expectations.

  • Responsible for development and maintenance of annual budgets and goals.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for operational excellence, and align with any existing Organizational programs supporting continuous improvement.

  • Align with Leadership's strategic vision for network development through support on RFP's, bid management, and facility implementation.

  • Manage highly complex projects to include facility start-ups, and cross-functional change-management.

  • Maintain a broad knowledge of Legacy WMS systems, and be able to interface with Enterprise SAP ERP system.

  • Support special projects and duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 8+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred.

  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.

  • Experience in plant or warehouse management or supervisory role.

  • Strong knowledge of perishable warehouse operations.

  • Knowledge of Public Storage and Distribution Center operations.

  • Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems, Yard Management Systems and an understanding of Labor Management Systems.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with warehouse management systems is required.

  • Quantitative background with strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Project management skills.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage, motivate, and train.

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and guidance to Warehouse employees.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
