Overview: Seeking a board-certified Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgeonto join a multidisciplinary surgery group and practice within a high-quality, MBSAQIP-accredited bariatric surgery program in the community setting. The successful candidate will be expected to perform a range of minimally invasive and metabolic/bariatric surgical procedures, contribute to clinical quality initiatives, and participate in multidisciplinary care planning. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operative and non-operative care for patients with metabolic disease and obesity, focusing on bariatric procedures (laparoscopic and/or robotic).
- Actively participate in a structured, comprehensive bariatric program which includes medical weight loss and nutrition services.
- Perform general minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery as needed within the department.
- Adhere to MBSAQIP clinical pathways, quality initiatives, and data reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders in surgery, medicine, nutrition, and nursing to advance bariatric and general surgical care.
- Attend and participate in bariatric program quality meetings at the hospital, regional, or national level.
- Participate in general surgery call coverage in accordance with departmental needs.
Required Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited general surgery residency
- Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the state of Illinois
- Eligible for core privileges in general surgery, including gastrointestinal and advanced laparoscopic/robotic procedures.
- Fellowship training in bariatric or advanced minimally invasive surgery (accredited by the Fellowship Council).
- Active or prior participation in a structured bariatric program
Preferred Qualifications:
- Robotic surgery experience and eligibility for robotic privileges under the hospital's Robotic Surgery Committee
- Demonstrated participation in MBSAQIP or equivalent national/regional quality improvement programs
- Completion of at least 8 hours of CME annually focused on bariatric/metabolic surgery

- Full Time - direct medical services for 40 hours per week, 46 weeks per year for full-time status (pro-rated for part-time status). (hours and flexible work schedules)
- 2 - year guarantee from $322,645-$585,998. The pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
