This position is funded for 11 months; continuation past 11 months will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

POSITION SPECIFICS

A Library Operations Supervisor is being sought to oversee and manage daily tasks and operations at the Mont Alto Library, while providing high-quality front-desk service.

The Mont Alto Library provides the Penn State Mont Alto campus and community with access to all of the resources and services offered by the Pennsylvania State University Libraries - one of the Top 10 research libraries in North America.

The Library Operations Supervisor plays a vital role on the libraries' small, high-impact team and works closely with the Instruction Librarian and Head Librarian (the supervisor of this role).

The Library Operations Supervisor will work both independently and collaboratively, utilizing dependability, organizational, and professional judgment skills, to complete this position's responsibilities, which include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring high-quality service at the front desk; responding to and meeting the needs of students, faculty, and other library users

  • Facilitating interlibrary loan and course reserves requests

  • Maintaining the library's physical collection; shelving and moving books

  • Hiring, scheduling, and supervising student workers

  • Ordering and processing library materials and supplies

  • Planning and assisting with library events and programming

  • Serving as a liaison to other departments of the University Libraries including technical support units

This position will be required to work onsite and will include very infrequent evenings and weekends to assist with events and staffing needs.

After training, the Library Operations Supervisor will also work with various computer systems to carry out library functions, including Workflows (library circulation and cataloging), Workday (human resources functions), and Springshare modules (for additional library services).

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Library Operations Supervisor - Supervisor, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Library Operations Supervisor - Senior Supervisor, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $42,100.00 - $67,300.00.
