Software Engineer I Cardiac Rhythm Management & Diagnostic Devices

About the role:

As Software Engineer I, you will join a team in creating and sustaining software for Cardiac Rhythm Management and Diagnostic devices. These products deliver therapies that save lives and directly improve the quality of life for patients across the globe. Our team is full of people passionate about not only solving novel and compelling technical problems but also making a positive impact while advancing the state-of-the-art of cardiac care.

Your responsibilities include:




  • Develop and test medical device software, document design and requirements, leverage best-practice object-oriented design methodologies and technologies
  • Analyze and debug complex problems spanning multiple engineering disciplines, drawing on domain experience to engineer pragmatic solutions
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in firmware, hardware, systems, human factors, marketing, and design assurance
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements to work processes, procedures, and tools
  • Participate in Agile software development activities including scrums, sprint planning, and regular process tracking to facilitate effective project management
  • Support clinical staff in the field in using software products and troubleshooting issues
  • Demonstrate commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to documented quality system processes and standards
  • Dedication and personal investment in building products that save and improve lives



Minimum Required Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related major
  • 2+ months work experience in software engineering
  • Knowledge of Java and object-oriented design patterns
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work Onsite (4+ days per week) at our Arden Hills, MN site

Preferred Qualifications:




  • Experience with multi-threaded application development on Linux or Android platforms
  • Experience developing unit and integration tests, knowledge of design verification testing
  • Experience within a software quality system including safety and security risk management
  • Experience in regulated software industry - medical devices, defense, aerospace, or similar
  • Experience with regulatory standards including IEC 62304, FDA 510(k), ISO 14971, 13485
  • Experience with cybersecurity best practices and standards
  • Experience working with integrated systems involving hardware test platforms and simulators
  • Experience with Perl, Python, shell scripting

Base Salary Range

Minimum Salary: $58200

Maximum Salary: $110500

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) - see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation forexempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
