The Role

Our Energy & Utilities Consulting group is looking for a Partner - Consulting SME to join our journey.

We're looking for Partner - Consulting SME who can deliver within Cognizant's Five Pillars of Consulting Excellence, which are: 1) Project Execution, 2) Expertise, 3) Business Development, 4) Practice Development, & 5) People Development. As a Partner - Consulting SME (which is a Sr. Director level position) this means partnering with clients and project stakeholders, colleagues. In addition to enabling consulting excellence through the Five Pillars of Consulting, the specific requirements for this position are below.

Core Responsibilities: High level responsibilities:

  • Lead Strategic Engagements: Act as a consulting leader with deep domain expertise in the utilities sector (electric, water, gas), driving large scale transformation programs such as AMI, SCADA, DERMS, and ERP/EAM implementations
  • Business Development: Own a book of business, lead sales pursuits, and ensure profitable growth. This includes expanding key accounts
  • Client Advisory & Relationship Management: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior client executives, guiding them through regulatory shifts, sustainability goals, and digital modernization
  • Thought Leadership: Author insights, represent the firm in industry forums, and contribute to the development of consulting offerings and IP
  • Talent Development: Mentor consulting teams, support recruitment, and build a strong internal community

Utilities-Specific Focus Areas

  • Field Services Modernization: Addressing legacy infrastructure, workforce shortages, and the integration of advanced technologies in field operations
  • Trusted advisor: Serve as a trusted advisor to C-level utility executives on digital transformation, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Sustainability & Net-Zero Goals: Supporting clients in aligning operations with decarbonization and regulatory mandates.
  • Digital Transformation: Leading initiatives in smart grid, customer engagement platforms, and data governance

Desired Profile

  • Experience: 18-20+ years in consulting, with at least 10 years in the utilities sector. Proven track record in managing large-scale transformation programs ($30M-$90M) and leading cross-functional teams
  • Skills: Deep knowledge of utility operations, regulatory frameworks, and digital platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, IFS). Strong communication, stakeholder management, and financial acumen.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel extensively as needed

Required Education: Bachelor's degree required; MBA or Masters degree strongly preferred

Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in US without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until June 23rd, 2025.

The annual salary for this position is between $162,000.00 - $257,000.00 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
