Senior Vice President - Network Health Analytics Leader

Aon is seeking a dynamic Senior Vice President to lead Network Analytics. This executive role will lead strategic initiatives across a portfolio of network analytics and health plan evaluation capabilities, lead the overall practice vision and external vendor relations focused on financial plan evaluation, value-based, and alternative and emerging network and payment constructs. As the national expert, the Network Analytics leader will implement the development and scale-out of client-facing analytics and measurement solutions enabling best-in-class evaluation and decision-support for Aon clients. The role reports to the Head of Commercial Analytics and will lead a new area as part of Commercial Analytics, closely collaborating across Broking, Analytics, Actuarial, Innovation and Integrated Solutions, Clinical, Audit and other specialty areas. This role will also partner with Aon Business Services in advancing client delivery through data & technology.

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from either our Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, New York or in proximity to other Aon offices.

What the day will look like
  • Serve as National Leader for the comprehensive evaluation of medical provider networks, including: carrier networks, high-performance and tiered networks, ACOs, Clinically Integrated Networks and Narrow Networks, Advanced Primary Care and VBC arrangements, alternative & emerging health plans, COEs and episode bundles, reference-based and direct contracting arrangements and related areas of expertise.
  • Lead evolution of network discount analysis and total-cost-of-care measurement and modeling initiatives in partnership with senior actuarial leaders and key carrier/vendor partners. Coordinate emerging price transparency capabilities working with cross-functional teams to develop unified evaluation solutions using new data. Develop and lead all aspects of evaluation methods for VBC and similar arrangements. Develop and coordinate consistent data, guidelines and measurement/evaluation capabilities for Out-of-Network and Shared Savings arrangements.
  • Lead the development of integrated client-facing interactive tooling and modeling solutions allowing for opportunity quantification, comparison, benchmarking, cost-containment strategies and data exchange in partnership with analytics engineering, data science and Aon Business Solutions.
  • Develop national capabilities for consistent evaluation of new and emerging plan and network arrangements working with innovation, clinical, audit, actuarial and care delivery authorities. Stay current on latest emerging vendors and capabilities with a focus on data, networks and financial evaluation.
  • Act as national point-of-contact for network evaluation internally and externally leading carrier RFIs, Surveys, Hospital and Professional provider quality data and related national data acquisition and evaluation initiatives supporting network cost and quality evaluation in collaboration with practice experts and broking teams.
  • Serve as national subject matter expert in high-profile client and prospect engagements, vendor negotiations and external forums and conferences representing Aon capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal partners in developing consulting collateral, POV, whitepapers, training and content. Mentor and train junior colleagues contributing to network analytics workstreams.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Minimum 15 years of client-facing consulting experience (min. 12 years with directly relevant consultant, health plan or similar firm), including national responsibilities and substantial network measurement responsibilities, employer health or benefits measurement, actuarial advisory and data & analytics
  • Proven track record and recent industry and vendor knowledge in evaluating traditional health plans, emerging health plans, Value Based Care arrangements, surgical networks, evaluation of performance guarantees and shared-savings arrangements and related concepts
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills, and ability to convey technical analyses and information in a clear manner to non-technical business audiences, including C-suite, Senior HR and Finance leadership
  • Understanding of technology specific product development and experience working with multi-disciplinary teams in scaling solutions including engineering, data science, broking, legal, marketing, sales and go-to-market, operations, account executives and consultants
  • Experience with consulting and evaluating impact of regulatory changes, including hospital and provider price transparency, No Surprises Act, Affordable Care Act, Medicare Reference Pricing, CMS value-based payments and other health reform and industry health innovation initiatives
  • Experience with claim and encounter-level data, direct contracting, provider contracting, claim payment integrity and claim audit, domestic reimbursement arrangements at hospital systems and billing practices including Procedure Coding (CPT, DRG, ICD-10 PCS)
  • Experience in measurement and validation of Care Management and ACO programs including development of financial, utilization, engagement, clinical outcomes, and value metrics beyond network unit costs
  • Experience serving large/complex Fortune 500 organizations, as well as developing scaled solutions for smaller self-insured groups
  • Ability to review technical work product and mentor junior technical staff including analysts, data scientists, statisticians and actuaries
  • Experience working with large health claims datasets or gathering datasets. Experience with evaluation of provider quality and quality data. Experience with HIPAA and de-identification standard methodologies
  • Well-developed skills in project management/planning and partner management
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time

Education: Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or relevant field. Actuarial credential (FSA or ASA) are strongly preferred

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $225,000 to $275,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
