RK&K's Construction Management Team is currently hiring a Field Engineer II based in the Raleigh area. As a self-motivated, Field Engineer II, you will serve as an assistant construction project manager and support infrastructure construction projects such as highway, roadway, bridge, and pedestrian facilities.

RK&K also hires those with related experiences such as contractor, military and surveyor experience.

Essential Function



  • Manage assigned elements of projects as an owner's representative to ensure contract compliance
  • Serve as a communication liaison between field staff, contractors, project designers, federal and state agencies, business owners, citizens, and other stakeholders
  • Review and understand the project plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
  • Provide technical guidance to the client and confirm quality work
  • Update and track financial information including cost projections for projects. Make recommendations related to partial and final contractor payments. Prepare and conduct entitlement determinations, independent cost estimates, time impact recommendations and documentation related to project change orders
  • Track project schedule and make recommendations
  • Conduct project meetings to include preconstruction meetings, utility coordination meetings, progress meetings, pre-activity meetings, and others as necessary
  • Prepare project management correspondence and review recommendations made by project staff.
  • Manage the Project Close-out process, including as-builts, final quantities and final acceptance
  • Focus attention on the success of key project elements: Safety & Environmental, Quality, Schedule and Cost
  • Interact and build relationships with internal and external project team members


Required Skills and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management
  • 2-7 years of experience in Construction Inspection or Construction Management
  • Or a similar combination of relative education and experience
  • Ability to coordinate simultaneous tasks
  • Proficiency in communicating technical information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • NCDOT-based material certifications preferred
