Responsibilities

As a Deputy Sensors Branch Chief at MTSI, you will provide support to the Sensors Branch Chief. This position will be in Colorado Springs, CO.

Your essential job functions will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Sensors Branch Operations Management Duties (40%):

    • Tasker Management: Acting as the single point within the branchto receive, coordinate, disseminate, track, and close all taskers coming to the workflow inbox.

    • Skillfully evaluating each tasker, recommending negative responses when appropriate and/or working with the tasking organization to better focus vague tasks that have the potential to consume excessive amounts of branch personnel time.

    • Maintaining a library of tasker responses, using information within it to build initial responses that squadron personnel can use as a starting point rather than beginning all new tasker responses from scratch.
    • Work Products: Reviewing work products for completeness, correctness, proper formatting, and consistent, professional appearance. Staffing work products through the branch chief and squadron commander or delegates.
    • Meeting Preparation and Follow-up: Prepare materials for meetings including agendas, presentations, and briefing documents. Follow up on action items and decisions made during meetings.
    • Information Management: Organize and manage information flows to and from the squadron commander and branch chief, ensuring that relevant information is conveyed accurately and promptly.
  • Sensors Branch Strategic Leadership Support and Organizational Alignment Duties (60%):
    • Assisting with management of the portfolio by providing information, advice, and recommendations for the effective alignment of portfolio acquisitions, manpower, and funding. Advise and assist program managers to identify and minimize the likelihood of interface and integration problems. Coordinate and resolve issues and facilitate team communication, resolution of program issues, and facilitating effective integration of requirements and efforts with other acquisition and sustainment activities to include internal system interface issues as well as external interface issues with multiple Government or mission partner organizations.
    • Communication Facilitation: Act as a liaison between the branch chief and various stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and information flow throughout the organization.
    • Representational Duties: Represent the branch chief in meetings as needed, and act as a point of contact for internal and external inquiries.

    • Problem Solving and Decision Support: Provide analytical support to the branch chief, assisting in decision-making processes through data collection, analysis, and research. Anticipate challenges and proactively address issues that may arise by making recommendations to the branch chief, demonstrating the ability to navigate complex situations with tact and discretion.

    • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the leadership team to drive cross-functional initiatives and ensure alignment across the organization. Establish effective working relationships with branch system program managers and other squadron personnel, and credibility with higher-echelon organizations.

    • Performance Monitoring: Assist in monitoring and evaluating the performance of various organizational functions, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.

    • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the branch chief and integrate with other squadron leadership (Commander/ML, Deputy ML, other branch chiefs) to develop and implement strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

    • Project Management: Oversee and manage key projects, ensuring they are executed in a timely and efficient manner. Provide regular updates to the branch chief on project status and potential challenges.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven experience in a Chief of Staff, Wing/Delta level Executive Officer, or similar role, preferably in a leadership position.
  • Comfortable working with technical information and systems.
  • Desire to learn the intricacies of the Mission Delta 2, Space Domain Awareness mission.
  • Exceptional organizational and task/project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with demonstrated experience by either directly using analytical methodologies or synthesizing multiple SME inputs to solve organizational problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite of Tools including MS Project, MS Planner, and MS Teams.
  • Experience with MAR software and process and TMT.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to evolving priorities and responsibilities.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in a senior management role, executive support, or Chief of Staff position.
  • Intermediate understanding of Space Domain Awareness (SDA) concepts and operations.
  • Understanding of foreign military sales or international defense partnerships.
  • PMP or DAU Level II Certification in Engineering/Program Management or experience as program manager in the defense industry as government or defense contractor with experience working in the defense acquisition process.
  • Familiarity with ground-based radar or optical telescope systems.
    • Eglin Radar
    • Space Surveillance Telescope (SST)
    • Space Fence Radar
    • C-Band Radar
    • Ground-Based Electro-Optical Deep Space Surveillance (GEODSS)

Education Requirements:

  • B.S. in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related scientific discipline (required).
  • M.S. in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related scientific discipline (highly desired).

Security Clearance Level Required:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with Special Access Program (SAP) eligibility is required for this position.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Location/Travel Requirments:

  • Place of work is Colorado Springs, CO, onsite 100% of the time. Potential to telework on a case-by-case basis and after six months of on-site employment.
  • May require travel up to 40% of the time within and outside the continental United States.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $190,000/year to $210,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
