Electrical Designer - Harness & Routing

Status: Exempt (Salaried)

Department: Electrical Engineering

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Designer to join our Electrical Engineering team. This role involves developing technical documentation for electrical interconnect diagrams and harness drawings, and collaborating with the design team on space claims, routing, and harness management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electronics, testing equipment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interpret system P&IDs and PCBA schematics to generate electrical interconnect diagrams.
  • Design electrical harnesses and package electrical components.
  • Collaborate with engine architects to identify space claims, routing paths, cable protection, and cable management solutions.
  • Support the design and layout of electrical wiring and harness systems for fuel handling and monitoring equipment.
  • Create and revise electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness drawings using PTC CREO.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical, controls, and field service engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
  • Select appropriate components such as connectors, cables, and protective coverings for hazardous and fuel-rich environments.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as UL and CSA.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into design iterations.
  • Generate and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical harnesses in lab and field environments.

Core Competencies

  • Proficiency in electrical schematics, including CREO Schematics.
  • 3D CAD modeling experience: proficiency in CREO Parametric is a plus.
  • Familiarity with document control and change management systems such as PTC Windchill.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill the core responsibilities.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical wiring and harness design.
  • Experience in the automotive electric vehicle market is a plus.
  • Experience collaborating with major automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Familiarity with IP67-rated equipment design.
  • Experience with hazardous area design.
  • High-voltage and high-power systems experience.
  • Strong technical writing skills.

Pay Rate:

$58,300.00 - $87,400.00
