Custom Hoists, Inc. is a manufacturer of mobile hydraulic cylinders, otherwise known as hoists. A hoist is a machine designed to lift heavy loads, such as industrial machinery, building material or even people. These unique machines make difficult or impossible tasks manageable in industries such as construction, manufacturing, healthcare, transportation and more.

Join our dynamic team that is working to deliver solutions for truck, trailer, and refuse markets globally! Custom Hoists is currently seeking a Product Manager who will be responsible for the end-to-end management of our hydraulic cylinder product lines. Responsibilities include product costing, development, strategy, lifecycle management, and ensuring that our products meet customer needs and market demands.

The Product Manager role requires a blend of technical expertise, market insight, and cross-functional collaboration to drive product success in the highly competitive hydraulic cylinder markets. The Product Manger will report to the Director of Sales & Marketing.

***This position will work on location full-time at our Hayesville, Ohio manufacturing facility.

What You'll Do

Product & Project Costing

Identify and compile data necessary to develop product/project costs from beginning to end. Calculate costs using relevant data (labor, materials, time requirements), with consideration to discrepancies and exceptions.

Product Development & Lifecycle Management

Lead the New Product Development process, working closely with Engineering, Operations, and Sales to ensure successful product launches and continuous improvements.

Product Strategy & Roadmap

Define and execute the product strategy, including market analysis, competitor research, and identifying customer needs (Voice of the Customer) and industry trends to shape the product roadmap.

Market Analysis & Positioning

Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify new opportunities for product innovation and differentiation. Ensure our products align with customer expectations and industry standards.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Work across multiple disciplines (Engineering, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain) to ensure successful product launches, marketing campaigns, and customer support initiatives.

Pricing & Profitability

Develop pricing strategies that maximize profitability while remaining competitive within the market. Monitor product performance against financial goals.

Compliance & Best Practice

Prioritize safety practices and precautions for yourself and others, adhering to company and industry regulations and protocols.

What You'll Bring



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business, OR associate's degree with equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years' experience in product management of engineered products in industrial OEM applications
  • 3+ years' experience managing complex team and multi-department projects.
  • Proven understanding of industrial product development processes and lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated success in managing projects across cross-functional teams and working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.


  • Verified ability to understand and communicate basic engineered drawings and specifications.


  • Proven expertise in business acumen, with a demonstrated ability in product pricing, market analysis, and positioning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and ERP systems
