This position works in a team environment and uses technical expertise and abilities to contribute to the development and manufacturing of power tool accessory products. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform software modifications to existing manufacturing machinery and process system PLCs, HMIs, and Data Collection systems.
- Understand and troubleshoot PLC, human machine interface (HMI), and Data Collection system software.
- Create PLC, HMI, and Robot programs from scratch for specific jobs; follow and debug programs written by others.
- Assist with capital project management and execution as needed.
- Understand AC and DC motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), inverters, servo motors; sensing devices such as proximity sensors, photo eyes, motion detection, mass flow, temperature, conductivity sensors and transmitters.
- Possess mechanical knowledge and experience in the troubleshooting of automated equipment.
- Understand design system requirements and select appropriate hardware for BOMs.
- Troubleshoot automated assembly machines and service systems as required.
- Robotic programming experience with Fanuc, ABB, Epson, or similar systems.
Project Management:
- Able to work with diverse groups on projects.
- Plan and implement infrastructure for new production lines, including power distribution, network cabling, and equipment layout.
- Collaborate with facilities and maintenance teams to ensure proper integration of automation systems with plant utilities (compressed air, water, power, etc.).
- Conduct site assessments to determine infrastructure needs for new equipment installations or upgrades.
- Develop installation plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and safety considerations.
- Ensure all infrastructure installations meet safety, regulatory, and operational standards.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, and other relevant codes for infrastructure design and installation is a plus.
- Assist in mid to high-level projects providing direction, guidance, and engineering expertise to team members.
- Schedule, develop agendas to facilitate and document project meetings.
- Perform a wide variety of calculations and software aided analysis.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for machine and/or concept evaluations. Estimated yearly travel: 30%-40%. Most trips will be contained within 1 week, with possibilities of weekend travel.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds repeatedly to a height of 3-4 feet, with the possibility to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to learn technical material.
- Ability to be interactive "hands on" with each upcoming engineering project
Education and Experience Requirements
- Technical College graduate or equivalent with five years' experience in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or Automation technical areas. PLC programming certificate.
- Preferred enhanced specialty skills in new process Controls and Automation development and implementing. Advanced computer knowledge and skills in MS Office and AutoCAD.
