Job Description Summary:

Leads Music Therapists in developing, implementing, and evaluating music therapy interventions that address the psychosocial and developmental needs of patients. Contributes to the professional development of team members and program.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

  • Models and leads the Music Therapists within the interdisciplinary team to improve or maintain social, emotional, functional, and physical health of patients and families.
  • Ensures ethical and sound decision-making, appropriate documentation, and appropriate interpersonal communication of the music therapists.
  • Demonstrates professional leadership through clinical supervision and participation in research, presentations, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Engages in leadership roles within Family and Volunteer Services, NCH, and other professional organizations.
  • Collaborates with Family and Volunteer Services leadership, internal stakeholders and other affiliated teams in the development, implementation, and evaluation of music therapy services.
  • Leads projects and initiatives to enhance and propel programs and services.

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy, required.
  • Master's Degree, preferred.

Licensure Requirement:

Licensed Professional Music Therapist (LPMT) in the state of Ohio, required.

Certifications:

Certification by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (MT-BC), required.

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of music relevant to the pediatric population.
  • Competence in voice, accompanying instruments, and musical skills, required.
  • Working knowledge of human development, developmentally appropriate practices, patient assessment, and the psychosocial impact of heath care experiences on patients and families.
  • Excellent organizational skills, project management, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of research design and methodology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Experience:

  • Pediatric music therapy experience, required.
  • Experience supervising or precepting others, required.
  • Experience in program planning, management, leadership, and teaching, preferred.

OCCASIONALLY: Bend/twist, Flexing/extending of neck, Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Lifting / Carrying: 21-40 lbs, Loud Noises, Patient Equipment, Pushing / Pulling: 0-25 lbs, Reaching above shoulder, Squat/kneel
