Job Summary

Job Description

Position Description:

Nidec is currently seeking a technically minded individual with good hands-on skills to work in a lab environment with electric motors, motor drives and motor building equipment. This person should be capable of working independently, keep data and test results in an organized method, be comfortable with voltages of up to 700VAC, and possess the mechanical ability to tear down and reassemble electric motors. This position is in our Syracuse, NY facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and follow test procedures and methods from regulatory agencies and customers.
  • Work with senior engineers to design test procedures and lab test setups to validate product meet design requirements.
  • Operate high voltage motor test cell.
  • Build motor components and assemblies for lab testing and customer prototype orders.
  • Document test results to be shared with engineering teams and customers.
  • Guide junior engineers on proper lab procedures, safety, and test methods.

The ideal candidate would possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience working in an electrical test lab environment.
  • Familiarity with electrical test lab equipment including power analyzers, oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, thermocouples, high voltage withstand testers, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand motor wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be hands on: operate motor building equipment, operate motor test lab equipment, and maintain safe working environment.
  • Strong MS Office skills in Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity of SolidWorks or Solid Modelling software is a plus.

Salary Range $28 - $32 DOE
