Kalman & Company is seeking to hire a Systems Engineer Level IV for an offsite position supporting a government client in Edgewood, MD.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. The contractor shall directly facilitate the conduct of systems engineering technical processes, per the Defense Acquisition Guidebook (DAG), including requirements analysis and flow down, associated development of and updates to Performance Specifications (PSpecs) and architectures, and assessment of vendor allocated baselines.

2. The contractor shall directly facilitate the conduct of systems engineering technical management processes, per the DAG, including conducting systems engineering trade studies, maintaining traceability of requirements using Requirements

Traceability & Verification Matrices, providing value-added recommendations for the program technical strategy and incorporating them into the System Engineering Plan (SEP), and tracking technical progress using the Microsoft Project-based Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).

3. The contractor shall maintain consideration of diverse functional area and stakeholder needs while directly facilitating the planning, conduct, and documentation of technical reviews (e.g., technical review action plans based on Department of Defense (DoD) checklists, etc.).

4. The contractor shall run the Technical Risk Working Groups in accordance with the DoD Risk, Issue, and Opportunity Management Policy.

5. The contractor shall perform configuration management duties in accordance with Military Standard (MIL-STD) 3046, including oversight of vendor configuration management activities and products prior to establishment of the initial product baseline, development of a program office Configuration Management Plan (CMP), development of the Configuration Control Board (CCB) charter, and participation in the CCB.

6. The contractor shall draft and coordinate the data, minutes, actions, and other requirements from Systems Engineering Working Integrated Product Teams (WIPTs).

7. The contractor shall develop Interface Control Documents (ICDs), to include proactively seeking out and obtaining interface definitions from external program offices, documenting the information, and coordinating receipt of stakeholder concurrence.

8. The contractor shall review vendor document deliverables and provide timely, informed engineering feedback.

9. The contractor shall support the performance of Human Systems Integration (HSI), systems safety, and Environmental Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) activities in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DODI) 5000.02, Army Regulation (AR) 602-2, Military Standard (MIL-STD)-882E and applicable law.

The salary range for this position is $100K/year-$130K/year and this is a general guideline only and is not a guarantee of compensation. Minimum Requirements:



  • Standard Requirement: The contractor shall possess a Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Engineering Management, or a related discipline, as well as ten (10) years of general experience and six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • Tradeoff Requirement: The contractor shall possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Engineering Management, or a related discipline, as well as twelve (12) years of general experience and eight
  • (8) years of relevant experience.
  • The contractor shall be able to use the Microsoft Suite of applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to create and maintain documents and communications.
