(RN) Physician Office Primary Care Pediatrics

Currently our team would like to identify an experienced Pediatric Registered Nurse with excellent clinical skills to enhance oursolid foundation by introducing fresh ideas, helping with change management, and workflow efficiency to take our practice to the next level.

The nurse for this role would feel comfortable working autonomously and taking the initiative, while passionate about innovation, quality improvement and development. Leadership skills with the ability to motivate others would be a plus. Daily task for this position includes, but are not limited to:

Please note, our office, located at 18109 Price Phillip Drive, typically operatesM-F, within the hours of 7:30 am-6:30 pm with some scheduling flexibility based on patient caseload.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Participates in policy and procedure development and training.
  • Assesses the educational needs of patients related to their condition. Develops and/or implements a health education plan for each patient/family unit and for groups of patients.
  • Assists physician(s) with data collection.
  • Collaborates as part of the primary medical care team to formulate and document ambulatory care plans for patients and families.
  • Communicates patient's clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and written format. Assures that medical record is current, accurate, and contain appropriate documentation.
  • Completes nursing assessments and conducts ongoing assessments of patients and families. Evaluates patient progress, conveys information to the physician and coordinate appropriate follow up actions.
  • Ensures that laboratory specimens are properly labeled, the necessary paperwork is completed, and specimens are sent to the appropriate laboratory. Documents and files all laboratory results.
  • Implements medical orders and the primary medical care plan for each patient. Dispenses, monitors, orders, and administers (by mouth, injection, or IV) in accordance with the physician's plan of care. Performs venipuncture to obtain blood samples for testing and other duties within the standards of practice.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. May serve as the primary backup for the duties and responsibilities of other positions at the site.
  • Prepares patients for physical examination and/or specimen collection. Assists physician(s) with invasive and noninvasive procedures and examinations.
  • Processes telephone inquiries, performs telephone triage and documents patient phone calls.
  • Records services and diagnosis on patient's encounter form to facilitate appropriate billing.


  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED Valid RN license in the District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia required

    Experience

    • 1-2 years related nursing experience, preferably in an ambulatory health setting or related specialty involving substantial public contact required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia, or any combination as required based on work location(s) required and
    • RNC-OB C- Electronic Fetal Mon Perinatal nurses (labor and delivery, antepartum, antenatal testing) must obtain certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) from the National Certification Corporation (NCC) within 12 months from date of hire. New graduate nurses or new to specialty nurses (labor and delivery, antepartum, antenatal testing) will have 15 months from date of hire to obtain the EFM certification. required
    • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and
    • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Verbal and written communication skills.
    • Basic computer skills preferred.

    This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $62.52
