Job Summary:

As a Sr. Associate in the BDO Advisory practice, you will utilize your education and skills as you serve the Firm's dynamic client base. The Senior Associate supports and collaborates with BDO's Risk and Resiliency team on crisis management, business continuity and related risk engagements. A successful Sr. Associate will thrive in an environment of ambiguity and have the courage and confidence to challenge convention. The issues we help our clients with are complex and require sophisticated solutions to problems that threaten their competitive position and jeopardize their resources, strategy, brand, reputation, and/or financial standing. In this role, you will work collaboratively with our team to build enduring risk management programs and create memorable experiences for our clients. You will work on executive level challenges across a wide array of industries.

The Senior Associate role provides the opportunity to gain an understanding of the business by working on various stages of engagements, including areas of risk analysis, crisis management, business continuity, operations, crisis communications and other matters as necessary.

Job Duties:



  • Works with management to prepare strategic guidance for clients (written and verbal) in the disciplines of business continuity, crisis management, disaster recovery and enterprise risk management
  • Develops client policies and strategies to assess and mitigate risk associated with business interruption, disaster recovery, cyber-attacks, black swan events and other strategic crises
  • Recommends enhancements to client operations and infrastructure to strengthen business resiliency and recovery capabilities
  • Supports the development of business continuity, crisis management and disaster recovery plans, training materials and procedures in support of clients
  • Crafts all aspects of risk and resilience programs - (e.g., strategy, governance, operating model, and support training and development needs of senior executives
  • Develops support function-level (HR, Legal, etc.) business unit, and product-level crisis and resilience planning, training, and exercises
  • Designs and facilitates business continuity and crisis management exercises to assess potential business impacts, define critical, time-sensitive processes and develops business continuity plans
  • Exhibits proficiency in consulting methodology, materials, tools, and continuity software
  • Educates clients on a variety of risk and resilience disciplines including business continuity, crisis management, information technology disaster recovery, enterprise and operational risk management and emergency management
  • Assists with the implementation and management of client resiliency, business continuity and mass notification software
  • Tracks assigned consulting work progress, and keeps management, clients and other applicable individuals informed of status and related issues
  • Supports the consulting team in development and tailoring of presentations, reports, activities, and statements of work
  • Compiles client program metrics, and analyzes results using documented procedures, available tools, and personal knowledge
  • Identifies new business opportunities to senior leadership
  • Assists with internal initiatives, as assigned
  • Works with management to prepare strategic guidance for clients (written and verbal) in the disciplines of business continuity, crisis management, disaster recovery and enterprise risk management
  • Proactively identifies project risks and issues and resolves them in a timely manner

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree, required; focus in Business Administration or Risk Management, preferred
  • Master's degree, preferred


Experience:



  • Four (4) or more years of work experience, required
  • Four (4) or more years of risk management, business continuity, emergency management or crisis management, required
  • Professional client service experience, preferred


License(s)/Certification(s):



  • Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) or equivalent, preferred


Software:



  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio, required
  • Basic proficiency with resiliency, business continuity and mass notification tools (e.g., Fusion Framework, Everbridge, etc.), preferred

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel
  • Identifies and assists in practice business development efforts, including client pursuits and proposals
  • Supports a collaborative and team-oriented environment while pushing themselves, their peers, and their teams for strong results and quality work
  • Effectively handles firm and practice administrative matters, including engagement staffing, client billing, monitoring project economics and adherence to Firm quality standards and protocols
