Job Description:

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Applications Engineer to support developing solutions, showcasing product capabilities, and providing front-line technical support to a diverse customer base. This position offers a unique opportunity for an individual with a strong optics background to take ownership of technical outreach, customer support, and application development in a field-based role. This role combines deep technical knowledge with strong communication skills and a passion for helping customers solve complex problems.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Act as the technical lead for optical metrology systems across North America.
  • Perform application demonstrations and sample measurements to validate system capabilities.
  • Conduct customer training sessions and provide ongoing application support.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align technical solutions with customer requirements.
  • Drive technical content creation through webinars, whitepapers, and presentations.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the optics and photonics sectors.
  • Build and maintain relationships within the optics manufacturing and research communities.
  • Travel to customer sites up to 70% of the time.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in optical manufacturing or application engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • Solid understanding of optics principles, including interferometry, lasers, and fiber optics.
  • Familiarity with optical manufacturing methods and metrology practices.
  • Competency in mathematics and the ability to manage technical projects independently.
  • Basic programming knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot software or PC-related issues.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills tailored to diverse technical audiences.
  • Active engagement in the optics community is a strong plus.
