Join the Dynamic Team at the Thoracic Oncology Research Collaborative Hub (TORCH) under the direction of Dr. Carbone.

Position Overview: The laboratory of Dr. Parang is seeking a Researcher 3 with molecular biology, cellular biology, and biochemistry experience to lead and collaborate on projects related to lung cancer drug resistance and identify new drug targets. As part of our highly collaborative team, employees will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects tailored to our research needs focusing, but not limited to, thoracic oncology and drug resistance, specifically for Dr. Parangs laboratory. Dr. Parang is joining the Ohio State Faculty and looking for individuals to help him launch his laboratory. There are opportunities to complete a number of projects and publish papers immediately.

Responsibilities:

  • Techniques: This position requires experience and knowledge with culturing cancer cell lines, working with mouse models of cancer, and performing molecular biology assays like western blotting, qPCR, and cloning.
  • Troubleshooting: Optimize molecular biology assays like western blotting and qPCR.
  • Documentation: All team members are expected to meticulously document experiments, data, and analyses according to project and data storage guidelines.
  • Lab Maintenance: Assist with lab maintenance, including equipment, ordering, compliance, etc.
  • Participation in Research Meetings: Participate in research lab meetings both internally and externally as requested.
  • Manuscript and grant preparation: Assist with manuscript and grant proposals especially related to methodology as directed by PI.

Education and Experience:

  • Masters degree in cancer biology, biological sciences, or related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Specifically, 5-10 years of experience in cancer biology, molecular biology, cellular biology, and/or biochemistry and lab administration.
  • Requires successful completion of a background check and completion of a pre-employment physical including drug screen

Desired Experience (Preferred but not Required):

  • Manuscript and grant writing experience.
  • Experience with tissue culture, qPCR, western blotting, and immunoprecipitation

Commitment and Teamwork:

  • Support experiments, collaborate with fellow students and lab staff, report results, and prepare presentations.
  • A strong willingness to work in a team environment is essential.
