Are you a strategic storyteller who lives at the intersection of creativity and data? HOK is looking for a collaborative team player who can elevate our brand across social media platforms and spark meaningful engagement with our followers. As a Social Media Strategist, you'll help amplify the voices of our people, showcase the impact of our work, and connect with a global audience. You'll join a dynamic team that values curiosity, cross-disciplinary collaboration and bold thinking-working together to shape how the world sees one of the most respected design firms in the industry.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Content Creation: Develop and curate engaging content for various social media platforms, including text, images, and videos.
  • Strategy Implementation: Execute a results-driven social media strategy to increase brand awareness and improve marketing efforts.
  • Community Engagement: Interact with users, respond to comments and messages, and build a community around the brand.
  • Campaign Management: Oversee social media campaigns, including scheduling posts and analyzing performance metrics to determine success. Oversee the firm's social media management tool.


  • Conduct digital audits, provide engagement analytics, and recommend strategic tactics based on results.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team and others around the firm to align social media efforts with broader marketing strategies and goals.
  • Trend Monitoring: Stay updated on industry trends and social media best practices to ensure the company remains relevant and innovative.
  • Training: Provide occasional training, especially to senior leaders, on best practices and optimization of their own social media accounts and how to leverage HOK-created content.



General Digital Media + Communications



  • Ensure HOK's brand voice is consistent across all marketing and communications channels and reflects the firm's values.
  • Support development of communications copy for digital media content.
  • Provide analysis of industry best practices and advise on modifications accordingly.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in digital technologies, specifically web and social media platforms, and guide staff on best utilization of these platforms.



Education/Skills/Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in communications, graphic design, technology, marketing, or related field.
  • 4-6 years of digital marketing experience working in a professional work environment.
  • Experience managing a variety of social media platforms, ideally for B2B or professional services.
  • Experience utilizing various AI tools/platforms to develop and manage content.
  • Experience executing paid and sponsored social campaigns (preferred).
  • Photo and video creation and editing skills preferred.
  • Strong analytical and verbal skills.
  • Organized, flexible, and responsible self-starter who enjoys a dynamic team atmosphere and is able to work with and take direction from multiple levels of professional staff with differing professional styles.
  • Ability to multitask in a deadline-driven atmosphere without loss in quality.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite as well as social media management platforms, such as Sprout Social.

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, education and location. The reasonably estimated annual salary range for this position in Chicago is $33.60 - $40.85 per hour plus overtime as needed.
