Overview

The Chief of Workers Compensation position duties include the following:

    Manage daily operations pertaining to Workers' Compensation Claims administration.
  • Ensure assigned claims unit is in compliance with state and federal laws governing the administration of workers' compensation claims filed against Electric Boat Corporation.
  • Ensure compliance with established best practices, department procedures and with key internal controls for Sarbanes Oxley regarding claims administration.
  • Follow established procedures to ensure aggregate reserves on reported claims reflect the corporation's outstanding liability based on known facts or reasonable estimates of probability.
  • Manage legal and various other vendor services effectively to mitigate expense.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to claim adjusters and assistants to effectively manage financial risk on workers' compensation claims filed against Electric Boat.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 4 years experience adjusting/legal or a combination of both
  • An active claim adjuster's license (CT/RI) to perform certain transactions on claims filed under state jurisdiction
  • Must have current workers' compensation claims management experience with demonstrated technical proficiency in Federal Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act as well as Connecticut and / or Rhode Island W.C. Acts
  • Experience in negotiating resolution & manage litigation effectuating desired outcome

Preferred:

  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Experience and/or education in the legal or medical fields
  • Recent experience (past 3 years) handling CT WC Act claims
