Note for Salary

This is the starting salary for this position. This position offers biannual pay increases for employees that are satisfactorily progressing towards qualification, meeting the company's expectations and standards, and adhering to workplace policies. The maximum pay rate is typically achieved at the career level within two to three years.

Job Family Description

Operations personnel have overall responsibility for the execution of nuclear non-proliferation, defense programs, and environmental remediation mission activities, as well as the management and coordination of multi-functional areas. This includes Radiological, Maintenance, Engineering, Nuclear Criticality, Quality Assurance, Nuclear Material Control & Accountability, and Weapons Production activities. Operations personnel oversee the safe and efficient functioning of plant systems, equipment, and machinery in a nuclear setting. They monitor operational parameters, conduct routine inspections, and ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements. They may respond to alarms, troubleshoot various issues, and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain operational stability.

Discipline Description

Operations personnel perform direct production functions such as monitor and operate process systems, handle and manipulate nuclear materials, and ensure the safe and optimally efficient operation of facility systems and equipment. They conduct work via procedures and training and maintain area-specific qualifications. They monitor process instrumentation and respond to alarms. Operations personnel operate equipment such as forklifts, pumps, valves, cranes, instrumentation, and other auxiliary equipment. They perform rounds and continually assess to ensure facility systems are operating properly and are being maintained within required limits. They perform unique and highly complex tasks such as glovebox operations, control room operations, and crane production operations. They operate distributed control systems (DCS), monitor, and interpret DCS readings. They function in a variety of contingency roles such as emergency response functions in support of operations.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Work from standard and special procedures, safety rules, minimal supervisory instructions, and directions from the dispatcher.
Perform administrative functions such as maintain mileage logs, complete vehicle status reports, and fill out requests for vehicle repair.
Perform work functions such as operate all site vehicles and towed vehicles to transport personnel, equipment, and materials, including contaminated, radioactive, or hazardous.
Able to perform pre- and post-operational check on vehicles as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).
Able to handle alone or assist with loading or unloading material or equipment to be transported. Physically capable of lifting loads and boxes weighing 50 pounds.
Able to ensure the load is properly spaced, secured, protected from damage, vehicle is not overloaded, and all passengers are seated and seat belts buckled prior to movement.
Maintain communications with dispatcher.
Coordinate with group or persons requesting transportation and perform administrative tasks as required to complete assignments. Other duties may be assigned by management.
Perform duties associated with the fuel management section including receipt and delivery of fuel, inventory checks, facility inspections and necessary administrative tasks.
Other duties as assigned by management.
May be required to work shifts.

Able to operate all site vehicles and towed vehicles. (May require frequent mounting and dismounting.) Able to disconnect
a fifth wheel without assistance. Able to transport personnel, equipment and materials including radioactive,
contaminated and hazardous. Able to perform pre- and post-operational check requirement of vehicles as required by the
FMCSR. Ensure load is properly placed, secured and protected from damage. (May require climbing onto cargo space.)
Verify vehicle is not overloaded and any passengers are seated with seat belts fastened prior to movement. Able to
physically lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Must meet CDL and DOT physical requirements to be certified by SRS Site Medical. Must be
eligible to drive per FMCSR hours of service. Able to maintain communications with the dispatcher and customers.
Successfully complete and pass any required SRS driver's training using both a manual and automatic transmission vehicle.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential.
21 years of age. All applicates must possess a valid Class A CDL license with tanker and hazmat endorsements for, hazardous materials and possess air brake qualifications. Also, two years of commercial driving experience is required. All applicants must be able to drive a manual transmission. Mechanical knowledge/background is also preferred.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
