Job Summary
In partnership with the Emergency Management team and working collaboratively with other health system stakeholders, this position is responsible for supporting prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery efforts for events that impact patient care and health system operations. This includes conducting risk assessments and implementing planning initiatives, delivering training and education for all employees and staff, designing and facilitating exercises to ensure ongoing readiness, and supporting response operations.
Essential Functions:
- Lead organization of emergency management plan, policies, and procedures to ensure the library is composed of updated, accurate, and functional documents which can be operationalized to support preparedness, response, and recovery. (30%)
- Lead and serve as the Emergency Management subject matter expert on select committees to foster a culture of emergency preparedness and promote mitigation and planning initiatives to protect people, infrastructure, and revenue. (10%)
- Lead process and document development for hazard specific response based on risk assessments and HVAs. This includes internal planning for Denver Health as well as regional collaboration with external stakeholders. (15%)
- Design, develop, and facilitate education modules, training sessions, and exercises to provide outreach, education, and practice opportunities for all Denver Health employees. (25%)
- Ensure documentation is in place and in the proper format for after action reporting and improvement planning for quality assurance and continual improvement after exercises and real events. (10%)
- Work with the Director to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance to accreditation authorities including the Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. (5%)
- Serves as the 24/7 Emergency Management On-Call staff member on a rotating basis and be available to report to the hospital during rotation, if needed. (5%)
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in emergency management and preparedness, public health, or related field required.
- Completion of training in Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 120, 200, 700, and 800 required.
- Completion of training in Incident Command System (ICS) 300, 400 required or within 1 year of hire.
Work Experience:
- 1-3 years' experience in emergency management required.
- 1-3 years' experience in healthcare emergency management preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of National Incident Management System (NIMS), Hospital Incident Command System (HICS), National Planning Frameworks for Protection, Prevention, Mitigation, Recovery and Response, National Disaster Medical System (NDMS), and the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)
- Familiar with regulatory and accrediting standards such as the Joint Commission's Emergency Management standards and CMS Conditions of Performance.
- Highly motivated, self-starter, and able to take initiative
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to problem solve creatively and complete projects on schedule.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a high-pressure work environment.
- Ability to build effective work relationships and develop partnerships.
- Ability to organize and structure processes.

Salary $65,600.00 - $101,600.00 / yr
