Your Opportunity: Jon Michael Design, a Taylor Corp company, is looking for a talented, innovative and experiencedVice President ofPackaging + Industrial Designto join our agency in NY! As VP Packaging + Industrial Design, you will be working closely with the President / Chief Creative Officer to align on company goals and strategies from a packaging and industrial design perspective.You will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction and vision of the company's design initiatives. Closely collaborating with cross-functional teams, including the creative team, marketers, designers, production and account team to ensure that packaging solutions align with business objectives and user needs.

You will provide leadership and guidance to design teams, setting standards for design excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and driving the execution of packaging design projects from concept to delivery. This role requires a combination of creative and strategic thinking, strong leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of best practice design principles.

You will partner with the account management team and senior leadership team to create a streamlined process from ideation to execution that is effective, creative and strategic. Manage multiple high demand projects at a time utilizing internal and external resources to ensure all milestones and client due dates are met.

Ideating and brainstorming with the President, VP Creative, and Creative Director from the briefing on all new packaging projects to lead with innovative ideas and bring knowledge of industry standards and innovation to the team. This role will be collaborative with the brand design team as we develop all new pillar and brand design work together along with mentoring and guiding our industrial design team.

You will be responsible for leading the Industrial designer on staff, by bringing new and innovative ideas the team along with knowledge on new technologies like AI software's for ideation in packaging design. As well asbuilding and managing a team of external 3D renderers with experience in fragrance and beauty. A strong network of talent is crucial to be able to flex up and down given the workload.

You should also be amaster trouble-shooter and problem solver, forecasting potential challenges as well as offering cost-effective solutions to achieve premium package designs. You will be responsible for multiple projects across many brands at once ranging from different categories such as skincare, fragrance, cosmetics, spirits etc. Knowledge in animation and the ability to create motion graphics is a plus.

Must be a true leader and team player with willingness to roll up your sleeves when needed to meet deadlines and clients needs. JMD is a very creative, fast paced and collaborative agency that is growing and we are looking for a like minded person to join the team.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design stand out packaging amplifying our work to stand out amongst the industry as leaders in our area of expertise (beauty)
  • Provide leadership by example to create an environment of creativity, teamwork, adaptability, growth, and problem-solving expertise
  • Infuse strong knowledge of beauty trends and innovation
  • Ensure timely development of high quality, innovative packaging based on brief, customer requirements, and manufacturability
  • Spearhead conversations with the production and manufacturing teams with clients to help make sure designs are made to the highest intention and standard
  • Drive and lead the team to bring new technologies and ideas to the table of how we can be more innovative and adaptable with AI and other software trends
  • Oversee and lead all 3d design work, including packaging, merchandising, instore, and 3d animations and video

You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial design or packaging design - beauty experience is a must
  • 15+ years of experience in a high volume, deadline-driven environment: beauty, fashion and CPG industry experience
  • Highly skilled on computer programs including 3D Software to create premium glass look, Cinema 4D, CAD, etc.; AI Software like ChatGPT, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop etc.; and relevant Microsoft programs to work with cross functional partners

We Would Also Prefer:

  • Experience managing a team of packaging designers and industrial designers
  • Agency experience working with multiple clients
  • Expertise in packaging design, creating award-winning and innovative designs
  • Extensive package development knowledge, preferably in prestige beauty
  • Extensiveknowledge of multiple 3D software programs and the ability to create accurate technical designs and photo quality 3d renderings
  • Detail-oriented with strong and refined skills
  • Ability to think quickly, pivot and problem solve solutions in a dynamic real time environment
  • Superior communication and clear, effective presentation skills
  • Extensive experience working with design, packaging developers, engineers and vendors
  • Considerable understanding of luxury, prestige and mass beauty manufacturing and materials; plastics molding, glass and spirits etc.
  • Knowledge of sustainability best practices across components and decoration
  • Ability to prioritize and manage substantial workload and communicate proactively to Project Managers

    The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $160,000 - $175,000. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The range listed is just one component of Taylor Corporation's total compensation and benefits package for employee.
