Summary: Support Relationship Managers with credit underwriting and portfolio management efforts. Effectively communicate information and respond to questions person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, and other employees within the organization. Independent thinking is required with the ability to express an opposing educated opinion and ask questions in a diplomatic manner. The Credit Analyst performs duties related to the underwriting and portfolio management of a wide variety of Asset Based Revolvers and Term Loans. Collaborates with Relationship Managers and clients to obtain necessary information to underwrite loans and assist Relationship Managers with various portfolio management responsibilities. Refers to documented policies and procedures to guide and support the review and decision-making process. Performs research and financial and statistical analysis to determine and support the clients' creditworthiness while minimizing risk exposure. Prepares spreads, cash flow analysis, reports, and presentations for management review and regulatory reporting. Ensures all transactions and processing are in compliance with regulatory and company guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Specific Job Functions:



  • Support credit underwriters and relationship managers in the administration of MFBC's loan portfolio to achieve the desired results of quality, profitability, and growth.
  • Review and analyze monthly borrowing base statements for customers across the group.
  • Review covenant compliance reporting for a dedicated loan portfolio and update trend analysis and tracking as required.
  • Follow up and clear any exceptions on any loans in assigned portfolio.
  • Conduct loan portfolio research and perform annual reviews and renewal memos to determine credit quality, character, and soundness, including analysis of extensive statistical data & financial statements, sensitivity analysis, industry analysis, management assessment, guarantor and global analysis.
  • Ensure the consistent use of well-supported and factual analyses and processes to determine and recommend risk ratings.
  • Act in a support role to credit underwriters and relationship managers, providing assistance with spreading financials, and credit underwriting, when required.
  • Perform accurate spreading of historical financial statements; prepare prudent projections, and document financial analysis with a clear focus on the merits, risks, and mitigating factors accordingly.
  • Ensure each step of the process follows all company and regulatory guidelines, policies, procedures, and methodology.
  • Partner with senior credit associates and relationship managers to screen loan packages and collect "due diligence" materials; interact with customers and accountants as needed.
  • Ensure all support documentation, both prepared and submitted, are in compliance and retained in accordance with the company's records retention policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


Job Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance (or a demonstrated broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc.; equivalent to a four-year college degree).
  • Experience with bank credit underwriting
  • Flexibility to support all lines of business as needed.
