Position Summary Nursing Simulation Specialist is designed to facilitate the implementation of simulation-based experiences in the Dallas College Nursing Program. They are responsible for providing expertise in simulation-based education within the nursing program. This includes designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating simulation experiences and scenarios for nursing students based on the course objectives and program outcomes of the Dallas College Nursing Program. Provide support for nursing faculty, staff, and students to ensure simulation activities are conducted according to best practice standards. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Serves as a content expert in simulation pedagogy and models professional behaviors when implementing simulation-based activities. Proficient at facilitating simulation-based experiences, including pre-briefing, scenario guidance, debriefing, and learner evaluation. Must be knowledgeable of evidence-based practice related to simulation pedagogy and various simulation modalities. Must have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office applications. Highly organized and detail-oriented, as well as creative and imaginative thinking. Understands the use and operation of different simulator technologies ranging from partial task trainers to high-fidelity simulators. Strong verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable developing and leading professional development training related to best practices in simulation education. Able to function as an effective team member, ensuring that all aspects of the simulation run smoothly. Consult with appropriate administrative and supervising personnel regarding the Dallas College Simulation program's operational and campus needs Should be familiar with simulation-based technologies from various simulation vendors (Laerdal, Gaumard, CAE, etc.) Understanding the perspectives and emotions of students to provide appropriate support and guidance. Knowledgeable about various nursing skills and understanding the purpose and safety associated with each skill.

Baccalaureate degree in Science of Nursing (BSN) required with two (2) years or more of strong skills and simulation experience or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with equal skills and simulation experience. Must have two (2) years or more in acute care setting experience (i.e. med/surg, pediatrics, ICU, etc.). ***Will be subject to a criminal background check. Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check. *** Registered Nurse (RN) with unencumbered License to practice in Texas. Current CPR (American Heart Association). Strong simulation experience desired. Official transcripts will be required. Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Provides simulation expertise, direction, and guidance to assist Dallas College Nursing Program faculty, staff, and students in performing simulation exercises and scenarios based on course objectives and student learning outcomes. Develop and maintain professional working relationships with Skills Lab Specialist, Faculty, and Staff. Works with faculty and staff to coordinate simulation activities and personnel involved in assigned nursing courses using simulation. Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement simulation activities by providing student and faculty orientation, operating and managing simulators and equipment, and providing ongoing support through set-up, reset, maintenance, and resupplying simulation activities as directed and needed. Operates effectively in a team environment, ensuring that all simulation activities have operational support and being flexible with scheduling and reassigning hours and responsibilities as needed. Responsible for the set-up/breakdown of simulation experiences in collaboration with the lab specialist. Seek out best practices in simulation-based instruction, including effective debriefing techniques, and assist and train nurses in implementing best practices in simulation. Research the best clinical practices and advise faculty on implementation, including simulation scenario creation and equipment requirements. Stays current with technological and industry advances and recommends advanced technology/equipment purchases to provide high-quality simulation services that enhance student learning and impact patient safety and quality of patient care. Performs various duties to support testing and research. Collects and analyzes simulation evaluation data from faculty and students. Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year. Performs other duties as assigned.
