The Apogee Performance Surfaces segment has grown from $100M to $200M in revenue through a recent acquisition. Purpose
The DET Banding Station Operator is responsible for securely banding and packaging units for internal movement within the plant or external shipment. This role ensures product protection and packaging integrity while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Operate powered strapping machines to securely band units.
  • Apply necessary protection materials (corner protection, stretch wrap, cardboard, dunnage) to safeguard units.
  • Use spacers as required and ensure units are properly placed on stringers or pallets.
  • Operate conveyor controls to move units through the banding station.
  • Utilize the wrapping machine to apply stretch wrap to units.
  • Monitor and adjust the banding process to meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of packing methods and special customer requirements.
  • Ensure correct product specifications, including size, quantity, and proper tagging.
  • Notify appropriate personnel when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Keep the workstation clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Assist in other plant operations as needed.

Personal Attributes and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience in related field.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions.
  • Legible handwriting for record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in using a tape measure.
  • Willingness to learn and operate tools such as a table saw, radial arm saw, and nail gun.
  • Capability to lift and handle heavy loads.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
