Position Summary

The Correctional & Continuing Education, Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) Instructor, is a member of the program team dedicated providing instruction to students that are enrolled in the STEP program at Ordnance Road Correctional Center. The instructor will be responsible for: the delivery of continuing education instruction face-to-face, attending instructor team meetings; and maintaining student records and posting grades.

Hours will be 7:30a-11:30a Monday through Friday, in-person at Ordnance Road Correctional Center.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the IC3 Instructor is to fulfill duties and responsibilities:

* Course instruction in computing fundamentals, key applications, and living online modules;
* Provide instruction and discuss the common elements that can be found with all Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
* Provide an overview of the Internet, impacts of email for communicating with others, and finding information on the internet;
* Encourages students to achieve personal outcomes and to become empowered in computing fundamentals;
* Distribute copies of the syllabus at the beginning of the first-class session and give an overview in class;
* Check roster and take attendance each class session, verifying registration;
* Post class grades within (72) hours after the class is over.

The primary purpose of the Advanced Life Skills Instructor is to fulfill duties and responsibilities:

* Course instruction to teach necessary skills for reentry success;
* Self concept, critical thinking and communication skills;
* Future planning, workforce skills, and finances;
* Health and family, future planning, and computer skills;
* Encourages students to achieve personal outcomes and to become empowered;
* Distribute copies of the syllabus at the beginning of the first-class session and give an overview in class;
* Check roster and take attendance each class session, verifying registration;
* Post class grades within (72) hours after the class is over.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree required, Teaching certificate preferred;
* Minimum three years' experience;
* Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, faculty, staff, business/industry and the public;
* Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills;
* Pass all background check requirements;
* Position is not eligible for remote work or telework.

Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd. s a part-time faculty employee you are entitled to these benefits.

In the best interest of the College, only individuals who are residents of Maryland or one of the following states will be eligible for employment at the college: Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. The college will annually review this restriction and, if appropriate, expand the list of states of employment eligibility.
