Position Summary

The Coordinator, Athletics is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and repairs of all athletic facilities and equipment, to include the storage, distribution, and inventory of Athletic equipment. The Coordinator manages game day operations and staff, manages the facilities calendar for practices and games as well as the hiring and supervision of Federal Work Study students, Athletic temporary employees and game day staff.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare Athletic facilities; natural turf baseball and softball, gymnasium, cross country course, and artificial turf stadium for daily practice and game-day set-ups including, but not limited to, the sports of soccer, volleyball, basketball, cross country, baseball, softball, and lacrosse. Maintain facilities to the standards designed for safe-play and in compliance with NJCAA and NCAA rules. Experience with the management of natural turf. Maintain safe operations of facilities, monitoring compliance with, and enforcing appropriate rules.

Provide facility reviews, service schedules, and maintenance on all Athletic equipment, and facilities.
Work with facilities department scheduling larger repairs on building related equipment and field machinery. Create and review short-term and long-term plans for facilities. Order and inventory field supplies and athletics equipment. Coordinate access to facilities through key request management.

Hire, schedule, train and supervise game day staff, Federal work study students and part-time game staff. Provides coverage for home contests in compliance with Region 20 and NJCAA rules and requirements. Coordinate planning of regional, district and national tournaments hosted by AACC.

Facilities calendar management to include scheduling facilities for practices and games within 25 Live and Outlook Calendar. Communication of facilities calendar to staff and coaches. Prioritize schedule for in-season athletic programs. Liaison to Events/Conferencing, Facilities and Public Safety related to scheduling, preparation and maintenance.

Attend required courses to keep pesticide applicators license and fertilizer applicators license up to date.
Update Anne Arundel Community College's state fertilizer applicator business license every June.
Submit college's yearly nutrient management program annual fertilizer application report to MD Department. Complete required training on Fork-Lift, Scissor-Lift and OSHA operations through Facilities.

Possess strong organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. This position will be trusted with autonomy to make decisions that greatly impact the department. Decisions will be made based on research and data in compliance with Region 20, NJCAA, College, State, and Federal Policy. A strong focus on attention to detail is essential.

Provide effective written and oral communication between student-athletes, coaches, athletic staff, administrators. Demonstrated ability to work collegially with a culturally diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and administrators on a regular basis.

Other duties as assigned by Athletic Director and/or Assistant Director, Athletic Communications.

Required Qualifications:

Two to five years of relevant experience

Bachelors degree

Minimum three (3) years experience in facilities maintenance procedures and equipment operation and maintenance. Equipment to include tractors, riding lawnmowers, field groomers, and turf machinery.

Must hold or obtain Fertilizer Applicator, Pesticide Applicator license within 90 days of employment.

Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Minimum one (1) year of athletic game day operations.

Possess basic skills of Microsoft Office programs i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.

Must have a valid drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications:

CPR/AED First-aid certified
Familiarity with NJCAA rules and regulations
Fork-lift, scissor-lift certification. Familiarity with Daktronics and Nevco scoreboard systems.
Coaching experience at the high school or college level.

Additional Notes about this Role:
Flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Work schedule may be over 40 hours weekly with flex schedule.
Work in inclement weather.
Work with minimal supervision
