Job Title: Appraissal Support Officer

What you'll do: As an Appraisal Support Officer you'll provide assistance to the Appraisal Department by facilitating the commercial appraisal process (which includes the environmental due diligence process) from receipt of initial service requests through the completion of the review process and closing the assignment file. In this role, you'll ensure compliance with all Bank policies and procedures as well as all applicable state and federal banking appraisal regulations. You'll apply basic appraisal theory and methodology while working across appraisal and environmental disciplines (commercial and residential).
- Responsible for supporting the appraisal department in maintaining vendor files for approved commercial and residential appraisers, and environmental consultants, noting the business footprint and area of expertise of each. Facilitate transfers of appraisal reports and environmental due diligence to and from internal business units, contract vendors, and other financial institutions. Generate monthly/year end reports and administers work-file composition / retention (on and off site), assignment repository, and appraisal/review archiving. Processes invoices for timely payments to vendors and reviewers.
- Provide appropriate assistance to internal bank employees and external vendors, in person, over the telephone, and via e-mail. Utilize intranet interface (OSCAR) and other platforms, to ensure enterprise-wide distribution of forms and reports / reviews. Create and maintain various forms and contracts required to facilitate the appraisal and environmental due diligence ordering, reviewing, and reporting functions.
- Assist the commercial / residential appraisal and environmental due diligence process from initial service requests, ownership composition (Reg Y), and assignment definition; and tracking the assignment through the review process and closing of the assignment file. Initiate and manage appraisal and environmental due diligence assignment files. Responsible for accurate and timely processing of requests for real estate related services. Review supporting collateral information and obtains additional information from various sources to process requests. Monitor all new and in-process requests to maintain accurate reporting and adherence to committed turn-around times.
- Assist with internal appraisal and environmental risk management policy and regulatory compliance through knowledge and thorough understanding of internal policies, FIRREA (Financial Institutional Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act), Interagency Guidelines (FDIC, OCC, OTS, etc.), and USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice).
What you'll need:
- 4+ years of related experience in Commercial Appraisal or real estate, and environmental due diligence processes or similar field.
- High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
- Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
- Intermediate experience in analytical and project management skills for a variety of tasks or projects. Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets, variables in non-standardized situations.
- Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
