THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Clerical Assistant 2 in this position will provide clerical support to the Station Commander and other station personnel by ensuring all clerical/administrative operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Prepares and types various correspondence and reports, as well as proofreads various documents to ensure that they are completed in a grammatically correct manner and consistent with department regulations. Transcribes RMS. Transfers data from incident, supplemental, homicide, and investigation reports into a prescribed computerized format. Reviews reports for adherence to processing standards and forwards to troop headquarters. Enters and submits Uniform Crime Report data and maintains statistics.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience proofreading and editing various types of materials to ensure grammatical correctness and completeness.
  • Experience processing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Experience utilizing various office equipment such as a personal computer, copying machine, facsimile machine, and telephone.
  • Experience with preparing and formatting various correspondence, forms, and reports.
  • Experience working in a position that required processing invoices, payments, and managing financial accounts.
  • Experience working in a position that requires maintaining a filing system.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
