Job Title: Immigration Specialist Duration: Jul 21, 2025 - Apr 21, 2026 Location: Chicago Illinois 60601 Pay rate: $ 90 - 92.14 hourly on W2 JOB DESCRIPTION Director, Global Mobility AMER & Immigration General Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and develop a specialized team of 4 professionals including 1 Global Mobility consultant and 3 immigration specialists.
- Drive strategic initiatives while ensuring operational excellence across AMER mobility program and US and global immigration to internal stakeholders.
U.S. Immigration (35%)
- Oversee comprehensive U.S. immigration program supporting 250+ foreign national employees.
- Manage external vendor partnerships for visa/work permit processing while ensuring strict compliance with federal immigration regulations.
- Provide expert guidance to recruiters, people partners, and hiring managers on new hire visa sponsorship, visa renewals, and permanent residency pathways aligned with immigration policies.
- Run annual H-1B Cap program for foreign national employees working on student visas or another company-based visa category where there is a strategic need to change to H-1B. Partner with external vendor to establish timelines, communication plans, and training sessions from December - May.
- Conduct immigration assessments focusing on business requirements and employee needs; determine immigration feasibility, and clearly communicate processes, timelines, and potential risks to internal stakeholders.
- Monitor legislative developments and industry trends in U.S. immigration law, proactively developing strategic recommendations and implementation plans.
- Collaborate with HR Services on change management initiatives to effectively communicate policy updates and process enhancements when needed.
- Serve as senior escalation point for complex immigration matters requiring specialized expertise.
- Review and approve monthly vendor invoices.
Global Immigration (35%)
- Oversee immigration process and expiry tracking for 350+ employees.
- Design, implement, and optimize immigration policies, processes, and workflows to deliver operational excellence while ensuring global compliance and scalability.
- Establish compliance protocols and oversee internal audits to monitor work permit expirations, employment terminations, and position changes, minimizing immigration risk exposure across global operations.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with external immigration partners, establishing performance metrics and ensuring service levels meet dynamic business needs.
- Lead global immigration strategy development, aligning practices with business objectives and evolving compliance requirements.
- Monitor international immigration trends and regulatory changes across key markets, providing proactive guidance to leadership.
- Review and approve bi-monthly vendor invoices.
Americas Global Mobility (30%)
- Oversee end-to-end management of employee global mobility program for the Americas, including international assignments, permanent transfers, and International remote work. Provide guidance where necessary on business travel options.
- Manage approximately 50+ international relocations and 50+ US domestics relocations each year.
- Lead strategic consultations with internal stakeholders to discuss business rationale, mobility policies, processes, and compliance requirements.
- Serve as main POC to leadership and HR throughout the mobility process, advising on timeline, cost, recommended policy packages, downstream partner involvement, and other mobility related matters.
- Partner with external tax and relocation vendors to guide leadership on international tax implications and compliance requirements for mobile employees.
- Partner with Finance, Tax, and Payroll to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of mobile employee data.
- Review and approve weekly relocation invoices and monthly tax invoices.
