As a Survey Operations Specialist in the transportation market research team, you will support large, long-term research projects - especially surveys of residents' day-to-day travel behavior. These surveys inform key transportation and urban planning decisions.

Survey Operations Specialists possess a keen interest in transportation and social science research. They excel in team collaboration, customer support, and precision in their work. Their responsibilities include coordinating email and marketing campaigns to enhance survey response rates, programming and testing survey instruments, liaising with our software and data science teams to identify issues in our app and data pipelines, and reviewing and processing raw survey data. Survey Operations Specialists become experts in MailChimp for email campaigns; ZenDesk for survey participant support; Alchemer and Jibunu for custom surveys; and Microsoft Office ecosystem (SharePoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote) for internal collaboration. As effective team players and communicators, Survey Operations Specialists coordinate with clients, vendors and RSG staff to manage schedules, and ensure smooth survey operations.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Supports multiple tasks across a variety of transportation market research projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Supports research projects (e.g., address-based surveys, focus groups, intercept surveys) across North America.





  • Supports development of participant research materials (e.g., print materials, website, emails)





  • Programs simple surveys using web-based survey programming software using Alchemer





  • Provides end user support to participants in coordination with call center staff to ensure survey completion (e.g., ZenDesk, phone, email)





  • With guidance from analysts, manages mail schedules





  • Manages email campaigns across all active studies using MailChimp, including incorporating translated email text.





  • Processes incentive rewards for research participants using incentive vendor platforms.





  • Coordinates between RSG and subconsultants and vendors on project tasks (e.g. call centers, printers, graphic design, public outreach, Jibunu, incentive providers, and translation services)





  • Supports analysts with survey data and record cleaning tasks





  • Performs survey dataset labeling and setup, with limited basic analyses and reporting





  • Conduct software testing with support from the technology team and analysts.





  • Follows internal guidelines for data privacy and responsible use of AI.





  • Contributes to a positive, collaborative work culture.





QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience



  • High school diploma with experience working in fast-paced professional environments. Bachelor's degree preferred.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities




  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and flexible





  • Demonstrated ability to deliver work on a timeline





  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and on a team





  • Basic proficiency with MS Office tools (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)





  • Strong aptitude for using technology in work processes





  • Strong written and verbal communication skills





  • An ability to interact with the public





  • High attention to detail and a good sense of quality control





  • Previous experience with data collection or other aspects of scientific studies is desirable, but not necessary





  • High degree of personal accountability to ensure timely, systematic, and consistent performance of tasks





  • Ability to follow directions, standards, and guidelines





  • Ability to perform field based data collection activities





  • Effective interpersonal skills





PHYSICAL DEMANDS




  • Frequently involves standing or sitting for prolonged periods.





  • Operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine or computer printer.





  • Frequently communicates with colleagues and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.





  • Ability to lift and carry equipment or materials up to 25lbs.
