THE POSITION

The Field Human Resource Office, Region 5 is looking for a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Clerical Assistant 3 to join our team. This position allows you to showcase your clerical abilities by serving as the corrections officer timekeeper and providing administrative support. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will enter payroll for approximately 230 employees including all H-1 staff at Quehanna Boot Camp in accordance with applicable contract language, personnel rules, and management directives. Work involves notifying the Workers' Compensation (WC) and SPF/FMLA coordinator of any absences which require specific documentation and coding. You will have the opportunity to assist employees with questions on benefits, personal data, payroll, military absences, or other leave of absences. You will also be responsible for providing clerical support by assisting with the interview and onboarding processes; attending and recording minutes at labor management meetings and pre-disciplinary conferences; and providing relevant information and documentation for grievances, CS appeals, EEO complaints, and other forms of litigation relating to human resource issues. Additional duties include reviewing the Employee Performance Review system each month as well as distributing, processing, and completing reports.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week, upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must possess clerical experience.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Payroll experience

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
