DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for executing skilled maintenance and repair tasks on a diverse range of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and tractors, as well as various types of construction machinery such as rollers, sweepers, and mixers, along with powered hand tools. Your duties will encompass repairs on diesel equipment, excluding diagnostics, parts rebuilding, and the repair of air brake systems and diesel engine fuel injection systems, including injectors and pumps. You will also implement a preventive maintenance program for vehicles, equipment, and components, which involves performing oil changes, conducting automotive mechanical diagnostics, executing tune-ups, changing tires, and repairing or replacing engine sub-assemblies. Additionally, you will handle cooling system repairs and adjustments, as well as work on suspension, electrical, heating and air conditioning, fuel, brake, steering, and driveline systems. Field adjustments will be necessary to ensure safe operation and reduce wear on equipment. You will carry out minor repairs and preventive maintenance tasks, which include cleaning and servicing equipment. Furthermore, you will demonstrate repair techniques on assigned equipment to fellow employees and assist other Diesel Mechanics with major repairs. Maintaining accurate equipment records will also be part of your responsibilities. In addition, you will provide emergency road service and may occasionally perform maintenance and repairs in field environments at County Stockpiles. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Travel, overtime and shift work required.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,841 (before taxes). .

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires employees to hold a current and valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license.
- This position requires possession of a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Class 1, 4, or 5 Certified Inspection Mechanic license.
Post-Employment Requirement:
- This position may require employee to obtain a CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate, a 134A Refrigerant Recycling Certificate, or a Compressed Natural Gas Certificate.
Additional Requirements:
- You must provide your own mechanics toolbox and basic tool set.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
