THE POSITION

The State Correctional Institution at Mercer, under the Department of Corrections, is actively searching for a dynamic and dedicated Licensed Psychologist Manager to enhance our Psychology Department. This pivotal role requires a professional who is not only well-versed in psychological practices but also possesses strong leadership skills to guide a team of psychologists in providing essential mental health services to our inmate population. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Licensed Psychologist Manager within the Department of Corrections, your role will encompass the comprehensive planning, organization, and oversight of the institution's psychological services program. This position requires you to collaborate with various disciplines to ensure the effective coordination of psychological services, while also taking the lead in developing and drafting new policies and procedures for existing programs. Additionally, you will chair the Population Psychiatric Review Team, playing a crucial role in evaluating inmate mental health needs. Your responsibilities will extend to being a standing member of the Clinical Review Team, which focuses on cases of suicides and attempted suicides, where you will engage in consultations with psychiatry and medical staff. Furthermore, you will conduct psychological testing and evaluations of inmates, contributing to their overall mental health care and rehabilitation. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, mental retardation or behavioral dysfunction.

Special Requirement:

  • You must be in possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
