DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The individual occupying this role is responsible for supervising, through a team of subordinate supervisors, the operations of the Cambria District Mining Office, which plays a crucial role in regulating coal mining activities. This oversight is essential to ensure adherence to a variety of legislative frameworks, including the Bituminous Mine Subsidence and Land Conservation Act, the Coal Refuse Disposal Act, and the Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act. Additionally, the office must comply with the Clean Streams Law, the Pennsylvania Solid Waste Management Act, and the Air Pollution Control Act, as well as uphold Primacy Agreements and departmental policies. Furthermore, the incumbent is tasked with the effective implementation of the Mine Subsidence Insurance Program, which is vital for protecting both the environment and the interests of the community affected by mining operations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Eight years of professional experience in mineral resource management that includes three years of technical supervisory experience; and a bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific field related to mineral resources; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience in mineral resource management that includes three years of technical supervisory experience.

Condition of Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
