Overview:
Metronome is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Cryptographic Systems Expert with deep expertise in Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) to evaluate and develop materials testing large language models (LLMs). This role is focused on creating and analyzing complex cryptographic question-answer scenarios to assess how well LLMs understand, reason through, and offer advice related to quantum-safe cryptographic strategies.

This is an ideal role for candidates who bring a strong foundation in cryptographic algorithms, are up to date on NIST PQC efforts, and are passionate about securing the future of digital systems in a quantum computing world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create robust question-answer pairs evaluating LLM understanding of PQC principles

  • Analyze quantum resistance of both classical and post-quantum cryptographic algorithms

  • Recommend quantum-safe alternatives in real-world cryptographic use cases

  • Explain implications of quantum computing on current and future cryptographic standards

  • Assess LLM reasoning regarding future threat models and trade-offs in PQC adoption

  • Evaluate cryptographic advice provided by LLMs against industry and research standards

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of cybersecurity experience, with specific focus on cryptography

  • Advanced understanding of post-quantum cryptographic techniques

  • Familiarity with quantum-resistant algorithm types (e.g., lattice-based, code-based)

  • Knowledge of cryptographic standards such as those from NIST PQC standardization

  • Strong communication skills, with ability to clearly explain cryptographic trade-offs

  • Analytical mindset for evaluating security implications of cryptographic design

  • Familiarity with cryptographic libraries (OpenSSL, Libsodium, etc.)

  • Proficiency in languages used in crypto: Python, C/C++, Java

Certifications:

  • OSCP - Offensive Security Certified Professional

  • CEH - Certified Ethical Hacker

Preferred Experience:

* Familiarity with cryptographic software and tools used in the evaluation and implementation of PQC.

* Participation in cryptographic research or contributions to academic publications in the field of post-quantum cryptography.

Similar Roles:

* Cryptographic Systems Expert 2

* Cryptographic Engineer

* Security Researcher - Cryptography Focus

* Post-Quantum Cryptography Researcher
