Position Summary:

The Respiratory Care Education Coordinator is responsible for developing, maintaining, evaluating, and overseeing educational resources and programs for the Respiratory Care Department. This includes orientation, continuing education, competency-based learning, and staff development. The coordinator ensures all educational activities align with hospital, professional, and regulatory standards. In addition to educational duties, this role provides direct respiratory care to critically ill patients in intensive care settings and remains current on evolving industry standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, maintains, evaluates, and oversees orientation programs for new employees.
  • Designs and delivers continuing education, competency-based training, and staff development initiatives.
  • Leads the creation and implementation of specialty education programs to support clinical growth.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in assisted ventilation and respiratory therapy, providing clinical consultation and instruction as needed.
  • Represents the Respiratory Care Department on regulatory and compliance-related hospital committees.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy plus a Bachelor's Degree in a complementary field, or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required
  • Master's Degree preferred

Area of Study:

  • Respiratory Therapy required

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of neonatal/pediatric acute care experience required
  • 10 years of neonatal/pediatric acute care experience preferred

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Massachusetts license as a Respiratory Therapist required
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care required
  • Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential required
