Role Summary

This newly created Lead Project Manager opening will support Rivian's Commercial Remodel + Special Projects. This person will works cross-functionally across both of Rivian's Development disciplines: Design and Construction. This role will support facilities remodeling and special projects to ensure all financial, administrative, contractual, and technical aspects of multiple projects are being executed as required. Some examples of projects this role would execute are minor and major remodels, programmatic roll outs across the fleet, and the execution and standardization of new product types. The primary function of the role is to provide execution-related services when a permit or multiple trades are required across North America for Service and Retail facilities, reporting into the Sr Regional Development Lead, Remodels + Special Projects, Commercial Development.

Project Examples that this Commercial Lead Project Manager would support:

  • Minor and major remodels

  • Programmatic roll-outs across the fleet (e.g., new product type standardization, charging-related initiatives, installations of new lifts at existing service centers, updates to existing service/retail spaces)

  • Site-specific projects (e.g., flagship locations, unique design making and planning)

  • Special projects covering anything unusual or atypical.


Responsibilities

  • Project Execution & Management:
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously through various phases, adhering to standard project intake processes.

    • Ensure cross-functional alignment on budget, schedule, and quality, and execute against these commitments.

    • Oversee design and construction work for compliance with schedule, budget, quality, safety, and contract documents.

    • Resolve field construction problems in coordination with relevant staff and agencies.

    • Chair progress meetings, provide status reports, and deliver presentations.

    • Negotiate with contractors regarding changes to design, scope, and schedules.

    • Support Rivian's safety vision and comply with all safety procedures.

  • Design & Construction Oversight:

    • Directly responsible for creating design concepts in collaboration with cross-functional partners, adhering to design standards.

    • Directly manage AEOR (Architect/Engineer of Record) partners and General Contractors throughout documentation and construction phases.

    • Ensure comfortability with space planning, mash-ups, and presentations.

    • Possess a strong design sensibility and experience applying prototypical standards.

  • Partnership & Collaboration:

    • Partner with Standards, Facilities Operations, Design, Finance, and Real Estate to ingest new projects and mature them through budgeting, design, approval, and execution gates.

    • Coordinate project tasks with other Rivian staff, departments, and public agencies.

    • Provide a "customer service mentality" for multiple internal stakeholders.

  • Procurement & Contract Management:

    • Assist purchasing managers in creating contractor and vendor RFP documents (scope narratives, schedules).

    • Attend job walks and selection/award review meetings.

    • Establish and/or review contract documents and manage procurement, pre-bid conferences, and evaluations.

  • Financial & Administrative:

    • Develop and manage budgets and schedules within established parameters.

  • Problem Solving & Leadership:

    • Lead projects "the Rivian way," exemplifying respect, leadership, commitment, vision, and teamwork.

    • Effectively solve problems and conflicts that may arise on projects.

    • Plan, coordinate, and provide project leadership despite complexity, volume, or pace.

    • Assess the operational effectiveness of contractors.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience: At least 7 years of experience managing construction projects or remodel projects is needed.
  • Education and Experience: At least a Bachelor's degree is also needed.

  • Relocation, Location, and Travel:

    • Ability to relocate to Atlanta area for this role is needed. Relocation would be provided by Rivian.
    • Ability to work from Rivian's future Atlanta Office at least three days per week is required for this role.

    • Ability to travel up to 50% in order to visit job site locations and attend meetings at multiple offices. monthly travel required for this role to support site visits for all of the remodeling projects at Rivian's Service Centers and Retail Spaces within North America, including Canada.

  • Environment:

    • Being comfortable having exposure to the outdoors, dust, high noise levels, and hot and cold weather.

    • Wearing personal protective equipment is mandatory.

  • Work From Home: Ability to work from home up to two days a week is supported as well.

  • Physical Demands: Ability to spend extended hours walking construction sites and traveling to different project sites and offices.

Preferred:

  • Education:

    • A Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction management is strongly preferred.

  • Project Management Skills:

    • Ability to lead projects "the Rivian way," providing professional influence on the work exemplifying respect, leadership, commitment, vision, and teamwork.

    • Ability to effectively solve problems and conflicts that may arise on projects/initiatives.

    • Ability to plan, coordinate, and provide project/initiative leadership despite complexity, volume, or pace.

    • Ability to support and provide a "customer service mentality" for multiple internal stakeholders effectively

    • Ability to assess the operational effectiveness of contractors

    • Develop and manage budgets and schedules within established parameters

  • Technical Skills:

  • General proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents across all disciplines.

    • Ability to analyze and interpret technical materials accurate and effectively.

    • Solid working level understanding of how to read electrical drawings.

    • Demonstrated interpersonal and analytical skills

  • Communication:

    • Possess strong written and oral communication skills to support objective decisions and recommendations.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for Rivian Applicants: $114,100 to $142,600

Note: Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.


Rivian's Benefits:
Rivian provides robust medical, prescription, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part-Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
