The Cambria County Maintenance Office, part of the Department of Transportation, is currently on the lookout for a dedicated individual to fill the position of full-time Maintenance Repairman 1. This role is essential for ensuring the upkeep and functionality of transportation infrastructure within the county. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will provide essential custodial and maintenance support to the County Maintenance Organization, ensuring that routine sanitation practices are upheld and that the longevity of existing structures is maximized. Your responsibilities will include performing various custodial tasks such as cleaning, washing, and waxing floors, as well as polishing furniture and fixtures, maintaining lavatories, and managing trash disposal. Additionally, you will be tasked with ground maintenance activities, which encompass mowing, raking, landscaping, and snow removal, while also ensuring that the immediate outdoor areas and building entrances remain tidy. You will assist in moving furniture and equipment as needed and may be required to paint both interior and exterior surfaces as directed. Furthermore, you will carry out minor maintenance repairs on buildings and facilities, utilizing tools related to carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and other trades. This includes making repairs to existing facilities or contributing to the construction of maintenance buildings, all aimed at fostering a clean and safe work environment. You will also support skilled staff with more complex repairs and maintenance tasks. Your role will extend to maintaining critical safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and emergency generators, as well as overseeing underground storage tank leak detection and other safety items within the building and yard. Additionally, you will be responsible for repairing security gates on the premises and assisting skilled workers on a variety of projects as required. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Hours may vary with operational or seasonal requirements
- Overtime and travel may be required as needed.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
