Our greatest asset has been and will continue to be our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Aircraft Maintenance Manager within our Aviation group based in Houston, TX.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of aircraft maintenance functions and supervises the training and professional development of the maintenance team members. Additional duties include planning, developing, and executing programs, policies, and procedures related to the personnel, equipment, and facilities of Occidental Aviation. This position ensures team-member and operation compliance with all regulatory authorities. The Maintenance Manager will lead the team while demonstrating effective leadership and emotional intelligence.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Procure quotes for upcoming aircraft maintenance inspection packages and communicate with scheduling regarding aircraft availability.
  • Perform aircraft inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, servicing, and servicing of the Occidental aircraft in accordance with all regulatory, manufacturer, and Occidental requirements at a high level of proficiency.
  • Mentors the Aircraft Maintenance Technicians during complex maintenance activities.
  • Reviews Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manufacturers recommendations.
  • Perform maintenance launch and recovery actions for all company aircraft to include baggage handling in accordance with regulatory and Occidental requirements.
  • Forecast scheduled maintenance events to ensure inspection items are met in a timely manner.
  • Leads Occidental Aviation to maintain a culture of safety and trust with efficient and effective procedures that drive inclusion and continuous improvement.
  • Provide effective leadership and coaching to the team to optimize employee engagement. Maintain personal involvement in operations to ensure that all necessary resources are available to the team.
  • Develop and implement annual performance and development goals for each team member. Provide coaching and conduct performance reviews to develop talent.
  • Build positive, collaborative, and professional relationships with regulatory agencies, industry, and the aviation community.
  • Oversee the implementation and accountability of flight operations projects and initiatives, ensuring an effective communication strategy is in place to efficiently disseminate information to team members.
  • Collaborates effectively with all department team members to continually ensure the highest level of safety and compliance.
  • Responsible for the emergency preparedness and response of flight operations.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the maintenance manual system, which includes Operational Bulletins, Letters of Authorization, and Minimum Equipment Lists.
  • Remain engaged and support the Occidental Safety Management System (SMS), which includes risk management, safety assurance, and safety promotion.
  • Ensures that all aircraft are airworthy, and all required regulatory documentation is current and on board the aircraft.
  • Efficiently schedule Technicians for training, testing, evaluation, and crew duty assignments, while ensuring that all required documents are completed and retained in team member records in accordance with CFRs and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains active involvement in overseeing the department's FAA Part 125 maintenance operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with duty and flight time limitations.
  • Create and monitor comprehensive training and evaluation programs for both in-house and contracted maintenance personnel.
  • Establishes and upholds departmental procedures and standards for maintenance operations.
  • Prepares and executes strategic and tactical plans as requested or approved by the Director of Aviation.
  • Participates in the preparation and administration of annual operating budgets for the respective areas of operations. Manages and authorizes time sheets, expense reports, purchase orders, and invoices as necessary to support operational activities.
  • Recommends to the Director of Aviation the use of new equipment and procedures for safer, more efficient operations via an approved MOC.
  • Advises the Director of Aviation on the selection, promotion, transfer, appraisal, and salary administration of maintenance team members. Strategically plans and manages the optimal utilization of human resources through training, job assignments, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Remains updated on industry developments to suggest new policies, equipment, and techniques for safe and effective operations.
  • Remains engaged with the maintenance of aircraft utilized by Occidental Aviation.
  • Monitor aircraft and operations to ensure all technical activities comply with regulations.
  • Serves as an active member of the Aviation Incident Management Team. Participates in various Emergency Response Plan exercises to evaluate the plan's effectiveness.
  • When absent, ensures duties are delegated for uninterrupted operations.
  • Promote, uphold and remain accountable to the core values of Occidental.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years' aviation maintenance management and leadership experience
  • A Minimum of ten years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience
  • A minimum of three years of experience in corporate aviation
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Administration regulations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Extensive computer knowledge to include Microsoft Office products, CMP, and Camp

Desired Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree
  • G650, G280 or EMB170 experience
  • FAA Part 125 experience
  • Knowledge/experience with FAA WebOpps
  • Knowledge/experience with FAR Part 125
