The Director of State Initiative Sales is primarily responsible for developing, executing, and sustaining a state-based strategy that directly drives revenue by securing state funding for Savvas Dual Enrollment and CTE products. This role works closely with Savvas Government Affairs to develop policy, and accountability incentives that are critical to increasing sales of Savvas Dual Enrollment and CTE products at the state, district, and school levels. Primary Responsibilities
- Initiate and drive Savvas CTE models/projects in key states by forging high-impact strategic partnerships with governors, influential legislative leaders, and state education and/or Workforce agency heads, leading to substantial sales growth and widespread product adoption.
- Select and onboard state-specific Business Development Consultants in consultation with the Government Affairs division.
- Manage state-specific Business Development Consultants, including the development of workplans and success metrics in consultation with the Government Affairs division.
- Lead cross-divisional collaboration to align government affairs initiatives directly with corporate sales objectives, ensuring maximum market penetration.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at the state level, providing timely, actionable updates to the senior leadership team to capitalize on emerging sales opportunities.
- Manage projects related to state initiatives, ensuring timely completion and successful outcomes that directly contribute to sales targets.
- Represent the company at state-level meetings, conferences, and events to aggressively advocate for our interests and initiatives, positioning our products for optimal sales.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop compelling advocacy campaigns and materials that directly support and accelerate sales efforts.
- Track and analyze key metrics to measure the direct sales impact of state sales initiatives and adjust strategies as needed to maximize ROI and sales volume.
Other Duties as Assigned by Management:
- Assist with Special Projects as assigned by the Vice President of Government Affairs, contributing to overall company growth and sales objectives.
- Strategically influence state policies and regulations to proactively create lucrative market opportunities and significantly increase sales of Savvas Dual Enrollment and CTE products.
- Aggressively engage state education agency leadership to secure the inclusion of Company Dual Enrollment and CTE products as essential, allowable, and fundable options within state ESSA Title IV-A and Perkins/Workforce CTE plans, directly expanding sales channels. This entails extensive travel to close opportunities.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- 10 years of government relations experience with a focus on developing, executing, and sustaining successful multi-agency state initiative sales that have a demonstrable impact on revenue generation is required.
- Proven experience in planning and managing activities that help the organization achieve its sales goals by coordinating cross-divisional efforts and executing programs closely aligned with corporate strategy and sales growth.
- Experience in Government Affairs including local, state, and national elected and appointed officials, department of education staff, and key advocacy partners, with a track record of converting relationships into tangible business outcomes.

- Strategic thinker with the proven ability to analyze complex issues within the education sector and develop effective state legislative and rulemaking strategies that open new markets and increase product demand.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, consistently driving initiatives that lead to increased sales.
Other Requirements Extensive overnight travel is required to secure critical partnerships and close deals.
